We are now looking for an engaged, creative, and responsible workshop manager and course leader in ceramics for Medborgarskolan's new ceramics operation in Eskilstuna.
- The ceramics workshop will be completed in time for the course start in the spring semester of 2027.
- In the autumn of 2026, there will be introductions in the form of training and study visits, as well as the completion of the workshop.
In this combined role, you are responsible for both the daily operations and development of our ceramics workshop, as well as leading courses for adults and children. You play a key role in creating a safe, inspiring, and well-functioning environment where participants have the opportunity to develop their creative expression.
As the workshop manager, you ensure that the premises, equipment, and materials meet high standards and are ready for use. As a course leader, you share your knowledge, guide participants in their creative process, and contribute to the development of Medborgarskolan's ceramics offerings.
The position is a fixed-term/part-time employment during the academic year. The degree of employment may vary between academic years depending on the scope of the activity and is determined at the start of each new contract period.
Responsibilities
As Workshop Manager:
- Responsible for the daily operations of the ceramics workshop.
- Ensure that the workshop is well-organized, safe, and welcoming.
- Manage inventory and stock of materials and consumables.
- Responsible for the maintenance and minor upkeep of the workshop's equipment, such as kilns, potter's wheels, and workstations.
- Plan and execute firing processes and other production-related tasks.
As Course Leader:
- Plan and conduct ceramics courses for adults and children.
- Guide participants in various ceramic techniques, such as throwing, coiling, pinching, slab building, and glazing.
- Inspire and support participants in their creative process based on their individual conditions.
- Create an inclusive and inspiring learning environment.
- Collaborate with activity developers regarding course offerings, course structure, and scheduling.
Qualifications
- Good knowledge of ceramics and documented experience with various ceramic techniques.
- Formal education in the craft is an advantage.
- Experience working in a ceramics workshop, preferably with responsibility for equipment, materials, or operations.
- Pedagogical skills and interest in teaching and inspiring others.
- Experience in course leadership, teaching, or group activities is an advantage.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Sense of responsibility, initiative, and a solution-oriented approach.
- Flexibility and good teamwork skills.
