The Education Division has over 1,900 employees, and together we work to provide children, young people, and adults with a good education. Our focus is to stimulate students' learning and development based on their own prerequisites. We are responsible for, among other things, 36 preschools, two preschool buses, 17 primary schools, adapted primary school, Nyköping Upper Secondary School, Adapted Upper Secondary School, as well as adult education at Campus Nyköping.
Our Organization in Nyköping Municipality
Our F-9 organization consists of 17 primary schools and 3 adapted primary schools. In each principal's area, there is a principal, several deputy principals, and a student health team comprising various professions. With schools in both rural areas and urban centers, we work to increase equality and integration among and between schools, as well as strengthen the quality of municipal primary education. It is about giving all students - regardless of school - the same opportunities for education and development.
The focus in recent years has been to develop a plan for systematic quality work as well as a common language-developing approach for the entire organization. It is important to us that time is dedicated to working on our common issues at both the management and operational levels; therefore, there is scheduled time every week at each school for conferences, development work, collaboration projects, and more.
About the Principal's Area for Adapted Primary School
In Nyköping Municipality, there are three adapted primary schools that together form a joint principal's area:
- Two lower and middle school units
- One upper school unit
Together, we create a whole where every student is given the opportunity to develop based on their individual prerequisites. Our operations are characterized by security, structure, clarity, and a strong student focus. Here, dedicated employees work in close collaboration with student health services, guardians, and external actors.
Job Description
Do you want to make a real difference for students with intellectual disabilities? The School Area for Adapted Primary School is looking for you, a special needs teacher with a focus on the daily teaching work with our students in grades 1-6 (lower and middle school).

Responsibilities
As a special needs teacher at the adapted primary school in Långsätter, you will plan, implement, and drive the teaching forward with our students. You lead the daily teaching with the support of classroom assistants. This means you also have a leading role in the classroom for the assistants, where you together shape good pedagogical work. You work systematically and develop your teaching and learning environments, which contributes to raising the quality of education for our students. Your role also includes participating in collegial learning and other pedagogical forums.
Our students study both subjects and subject areas and are at different developmental levels. Students attend smaller classes and are divided into smaller groups during certain lessons. Teaching may need to be individualized, but always with the goal of reaching the whole group over time through differentiated instruction. The work team includes teachers and other classroom assistants with whom you collaborate closely. The special needs teacher in the class is tasked with coordinating and leading the classroom assistants associated with the group/class. We strive for a structured and individualized approach where every student gets to develop based on their abilities and opportunities.

Qualifications
You who apply must be a licensed special needs teacher and be confident in teaching processes and structured in your work approach. You must have knowledge and experience of teaching students with intellectual disabilities and other disabilities, as well as good knowledge and familiarity with students with significant care needs.
We place great emphasis on your ability to create a secure and structured learning environment for the students. Flexibility and a solution-oriented approach are important components of the work.
Since the job places high demands on meeting the needs of many different students and collaborating with adults with various competencies, you must find it easy to collaborate and interact in different environments and contexts. You must be receptive but also able to make your own decisions. You must be able to work both independently and in a group. You have experience and feel confident handling various types of aids for learning, as well as physical aids such as Permo-bils (powered wheelchairs), standing frames, walking chairs, and other aids that need to be considered in the teaching work.
Personal qualities required to succeed in the role of special needs teacher include teamwork skills, responsibility, trustworthiness, and security. It is important to be able to act professionally and patiently in difficult and pressured situations.
