About the Job

The youth centre Pilen is located in Askim at Pilegårdsvägen 25 and operates in collaboration with the municipal school of music and arts for middle and upper secondary school students. As a youth centre assistant at Pilen, you are a relationship-building adult who promotes safety, trust, and positive development. Your assignment includes planning and implementing activities for youth in the middle and upper secondary school age group at Pilen. This is done in dialogue with the young people to contribute to participation, development, and learning, as well as to promote inclusion and democratic values. Your role involves creating conditions for youth participation and influence in the activities through various participation forums. This also includes coaching young people in participation processes, helping them develop their ideas, plan, implement, and evaluate activities, thereby supporting young people in contributing to their meaningful leisure time. You collaborate daily with staff from the School of Music and Arts. One to two evenings a week, you work together with staff from Passalen, who are on-site to facilitate participation for young people with functional variations.

You will drive the daily work at the meeting place/youth centre; plan and implement activities together with colleagues and/or young people, and take responsibility for related tasks such as purchasing, marketing, etc. You will also conduct outreach activities at, among other places, nearby schools.

Your role is multifaceted, and your assignment also includes, among other things:

  • Supervise and give feedback to youth leaders, interns, "Ung Extra" (extra youth workers), and holiday workers.
  • Work actively with violence prevention methods, for example through norm critique, gender equality work, and conflict management.
  • Identify needs among young people and refer them further if necessary (e.g., to school, youth clinic, social services).
  • Report in the joint documentation and follow-up system, The Logbook.
  • Collaborate with schools, other activities at Pilen, civil society, and other youth activities in the South West district.
  • During school holidays, collaborate in new work groups in the South West to offer a rich opportunity for leisure activities in sustainable work teams.
  • Participate in development work with other colleagues in the South West, e.g., by participating in a responsibility group or network.

With us, you have the opportunity to make a difference, create positive meeting places, and give young people a meaningful leisure time. We look forward to welcoming you to our team!
