About the job

The Youth Centre Öhålan is located on Styrsö, right at the bridgehead to Donsö. Öhålan offers activities for young people in middle and upper secondary school ages and has premises that serve as a meeting place for all ages. As a youth worker assistant at Öhålan, you are a relationship-building adult who promotes safety, trust, and positive development. Your assignment includes planning and implementing activities for young people in middle and upper secondary school ages at Öhålan. This is done in dialogue with young people to contribute to participation, development, and learning, as well as to promote inclusion and democratic values. Your role involves creating conditions for young people's participation and influence in the activities through various participation forums. This also includes coaching young people in participation processes, developing their ideas, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities, thereby supporting young people in contributing to their meaningful leisure time. You collaborate with various actors and associations to contribute to a rich leisure life for people in the Southern Archipelago.

You will drive the daily work at the meeting place/youth centre; plan and implement activities together with colleagues and/or young people, and take responsibility for related tasks such as purchasing, marketing, etc. You will also conduct outreach activities at nearby schools, among others. Some responsibility for providing premises to associations, among others, is included.

Your role is multifaceted and your assignment also includes among other things:

  • Mentoring and giving feedback to youth leaders, interns, "Ung Extra" (extra youth workers), and holiday workers.
  • Actively working with violence prevention methods, for example through norm criticism, gender equality work, and conflict management.
  • Identifying needs among young people and referring them further if necessary (e.g., to school, youth clinic, social services).
  • Reporting in the joint documentation and follow-up system The Logbook.
  • Collaborating with schools, other activities in the Archipelago, civil society, and other youth activities in the Southwest.
  • Participating in development work with other colleagues in the Southwest, e.g., by participating in a responsibility group or network.

During holidays, we collaborate in new working groups in the Southwest to offer a rich opportunity for leisure activities throughout the summer in sustainable work teams. We have a camp south of Styrsö with unique opportunities for summer activities.

Styrsö is a car-free island, and you will reach the workplace by boat from Saltholmen (approx. 20 min). The schedule is adapted to the boat times. The work involves two to three evenings per week.

With us, you have the opportunity to make a difference, create positive meeting places, and give young people a meaningful leisure time. We look forward to welcoming you to our team!
