Job Description
Are you looking for a meaningful job where you can make a real difference in people's lives? The Guardianship Unit is now looking for a guardian to join our wonderful team!
The Guardianship Unit's operations are directed towards adult residents of Gothenburg and surrounding municipalities who need guardians with specific competencies. The operations are governed by the Parental Code with decisions made by the District Court. The unit consists of a unit manager, a senior guardian, 20 guardians, and an administrative guardian who will be your colleagues. The unit also has a development leader and an administrator.
The Guardianship Unit works on behalf of the Gothenburg Guardianship Authority and the Guardianship Cooperation (ÖFS), which is responsible for providing guardians to persons with severe mental disabilities, other serious medical conditions, substance abuse, and other severe social problems, sometimes in combination. The Guardianship Unit steps in when it is difficult for a private guardian to support the person. We assist individuals with financial, legal, and social matters. We safeguard the individual's rights, manage their property, and ensure their well-being. The individual's (principal's) needs are at the center, and working with clear goals and individual follow-ups is an important part of the guardian's development work.
As a guardian employed by the Guardianship Unit, you should contribute to an increased quality of life for the individual without depriving them of their own responsibility. In your role, you collaborate with professional networks and, where possible, with the individual's relatives.
In your role as a guardian, the daily work will include, among other things, contacting principals and their networks, providing advice in personal matters, safeguarding the right to care and support, and applying for various measures/assistance as needed. The work also includes representing principals before authorities and courts, structuring the principals' finances, documentation, and financial reporting.
To meet the individual needs of principals and ensure secure relationships, we strive to offer choices when selecting a representative. This requires diversity in our team to professionally accommodate different preferences.
We offer you a fun and challenging job among dedicated staff in pleasant premises in the city center with a beautiful view of the river!
Qualifications
You must have a university degree as a social worker, within economics, behavioral science, law, or another university degree that the employer considers equivalent.
You also need several years of experience and a genuine interest in working with the target group of people with mental disabilities, often in combination with substance abuse and other severe social problems.
You need to have good knowledge of public services such as healthcare, psychiatry, and social services.
You also need good legal knowledge, primarily related to the Support and Service Act (LSS) and the Social Services Act (SoL).
In addition, you need knowledge and experience of administration and economics.
The role also requires experience of working with people who have a problematic/complex life situation.
Your IT skills must be good.
Part of the assignment is carried out in the surrounding municipalities, so a B driver's license is required.
Previous experience as a guardian or legal representative is meritorious. Completed training as a legal representative before employment is meritorious; otherwise, it can be undertaken in connection with employment.
Additional language skills in addition to Swedish and English are meritorious.
As a person, your approach should be characterized by trust in the principal's willingness to be involved and take responsibility for their own social situation. You show respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role. You have an open and positive attitude as you have the principal's needs as the starting point for your actions.
You are comfortable in social contact areas, both informal and formal. You stand by decisions made and can convey uncomfortable messages when necessary.
You are stable, secure, and work efficiently under stress. You can balance different demands and keep your cool in difficult situations. You distinguish between the issue and the person and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure.
You set clear goals and plan activities in good time. You use time efficiently and work systematically, organized, and methodically. You ensure that the work is completed and follow up on the results.
Finally, depending on your area of responsibility, you may need to withstand pressure from others, set boundaries, and say no when necessary. Based on this, you need to be clear in your professional role and act professionally in situations where others question you or make unreasonable demands.
We look forward to receiving your application!
Other
The Guardianship Authority conducts a background check before employment can take place. You will also need to show extracts from the criminal record.
To act as a personally appointed legal representative/guardian, there is a requirement to have completed training as a legal representative with a passing grade. The training as a legal representative can, after assessment, be carried out in connection with taking up the post.
In this recruitment, you will answer questions where you describe your experience and knowledge in the field instead of writing a cover letter.
