Do you want to lead legal work on some of the welfare sector's most current and socially important issues?

At the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), you will have the opportunity to influence legal developments within healthcare, dental care, and other related fields. Together with dedicated employees, you will help create the conditions for knowledge-based, safe, and equitable care and social services.

We are now looking for a Unit Manager for the Unit for Healthcare Law 2.

About the role

As Unit Manager, you lead the work at the Unit for Healthcare Law 2, one of two units responsible for legal areas within healthcare and dental care.

You lead a team of qualified lawyers working with legal support, regulatory development, and legal steering across a broad spectrum of legal fields. The unit is responsible for legal issues regarding medical record keeping, digitalization, and the processing of personal data in healthcare, as well as care for children and young people. It also provides legal support regarding biobanks and human tissue, organ donation, and transplantation. Additionally, the unit works on legal issues within psychiatry, dentistry, maternity care, and women's health.

In this role, you have overall responsibility for the unit's work in developing and producing regulations, general advice, manuals, information bulletins, and other legal products within the unit's areas of responsibility. The unit also provides legal support to operations, leads government assignments within its areas, and participates in other development initiatives. You are responsible for preparing consultation responses and statements to courts, the Parliamentary Ombudsmen (JO), and other authorities.

The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of future legal work in the state sector. As a manager, you will play a key role in developing working methods and competencies to meet these changes.

An important part of the assignment is to follow legal developments within the unit's areas and ensure that the authority has effective legal support. You promote good collaboration within the organization and contribute to law creating value for the operations.

You report to the Division Manager and are part of the Legal Division's leadership group. Together with other managers, you contribute a holistic perspective and help develop operations based on our mission and goals.

The role also involves collaborating with other authorities and external actors, as well as representing the National Board of Health and Welfare in various contexts.

About you and your leadership

We are looking for you who are a confident and development-oriented leader with the ability to create engagement, involvement, and results.

You lead by utilizing employees' competencies and creating good conditions for cooperation, learning, and development. You are clear in your communication and have the ability to create direction even in complex issues.

To succeed in the role, you need to be able to switch between strategic perspectives and operational needs. You build trusting relationships and find it easy to collaborate both within and outside the organization.

We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities and leadership skills.
