We are looking for a Head of Legal Affairs and simultaneously Division Manager for our legal division for a fixed-term contract of approximately eight months. About the job

As Head of Legal Affairs and Division Manager for the Legal Division, you are responsible for developing the Swedish National Agency for Education's legal work together with the unit managers on the division. You are responsible for fundamental and complex legal issues, including school law and administrative law matters. You ensure that the legal division provides adequate legal and strategic support to the entire agency. Furthermore, you are responsible for coordinating, developing, and managing the Agency's regulations.

Your assignment includes driving, developing, and managing the Agency's information service, providing qualified and service-oriented support to our target groups and the general public. You are also responsible for driving, coordinating, and developing the Agency's work with information management and security issues, as well as the agency's internal preparedness work. Since 2022, the Swedish National Agency for Education has been a preparedness agency.

The Legal Division has five units with a total of approximately 90 employees. You lead and drive the division forward based on the common priorities set by the Swedish National Agency for Education. In the division's management group, which includes five unit managers and one division coordinator, you work to ensure the division operates in a focused and efficient manner. You work with a holistic view of both the division and the Agency. You drive continuous improvement work regarding the division's working methods, development, and competence supply.

You report directly to the Director General of the Swedish National Agency for Education and you are an important part of the agency's management group, where you contribute to the development of the entire agency and to achieving our goals. You have close collaboration with different parts of the organization to promote development and efficiency. The duties also include representing the Swedish National Agency for Education externally and in the media.

For this job, you must have

  • a degree in law or juris
  • current and multi-year experience in legal work
  • good knowledge of public law
  • current and multi-year experience as a manager with personnel and budget responsibility
  • experience working with strategic development both in the management group and within your own area of responsibility
  • experience leading and driving change in a goal- and result-oriented organization
  • operational knowledge within schools, education issues, and/or school law
  • very good language skills in Swedish and English (spoken and written).

It is meritorious if you have experience as a manager at a state agency.

As a person, you need to

  • be good at building good relationships,
  • have high integrity,
  • be clear and responsive in your communication style,
  • have good judgment and be able to make well-balanced decisions taking different perspectives into account.

Important to know

The last day for applications is August 2. The position is a fixed-term contract for approximately eight months, but no longer than until a permanent division manager is appointed.
