The Study and Career Guidance department consists of 6 employees who work closely together in their daily tasks, providing both general guidance and specialized support for certain programs. We are now looking for an engaged employee who wants to work with us in the Student Support and Education Administration unit. As a Study and Career Advisor, you have the opportunity to contribute to our vision of becoming Sweden's best student support by assisting students as they enter and progress through their studies at Dalarna University.

The Student Support and Education Administration unit is a central unit within the university's operational support, employing 22 staff members. The unit comprises education administration, study and career guidance, student health services, and examinations. It is one of three units within the Student and Education Support Department, responsible for all study administration and student support, both centrally and towards the faculties. The department is also responsible for the validation process and admission to the Professional Teacher Program, a task in which study guidance plays a central role.

Your working day as a Study and Career Advisor

The work consists of providing guidance and information to prospective and current students. You guide students into their studies, through their studies, and during the transition into working life. In your daily work, you communicate digitally, via phone, and through booked personal meetings. Your role is to support students and prospective students in independently developing awareness of their own skills, competencies, and interests. The assignment also includes organizing information and educational meetings.

In addition to close collaboration within the study and career guidance team, you will cooperate with other colleagues within operational support and at the faculties, as well as with external actors. You will also be involved in shaping, developing, and implementing support for students at both group and individual levels, with the aim of increasing the proportion of students who complete their education.

You will also participate in the department's overarching work and development.

Are you the person we are looking for?

To succeed in this role, we see that you have:

• A degree in study and career guidance or equivalent
• General competence regarding studies at universities and colleges and knowledge of the labor market
• The ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

Previous experience in study and career guidance at a university or college is meritorious for the position, as is experience with validation within education and/or knowledge of teacher education.

Since the work involves collaborating with many different people, we are looking for someone who is sensitive and has good communication skills.

To thrive in this role, you also need to be self-reliant and flexible.

The Employment

This is a fixed-term position with immediate start according to agreement, until 2027-06-30. Full-time (100%). Dalarna University is an institution operating in two locations. The place of work for this position is Borlänge, with some work also taking place in Falun.
