Teacher for Special Education Group – Domarhagsskolan, Avesta
There is something special about Avesta! Here you will find not only Dalarna horses and roaring rapids, but also determination and courage, initiative and hope for the future. It is the strength of the people that makes Avesta unique. Together we are building Avesta's future – do you want to be part of it?
Domarhagsskolan is a secondary school (grades 7-9) located in central Avesta Municipality. We are located next door to Karlfeldt Gymnasium and share some facilities with them. We currently have 320 students. We have a special education group and an Adapted Primary School (grades 7-9), as well as a lower secondary section with four parallel classes. This autumn, we will also launch the municipality's emergency school.
The staff at the school is dedicated and works in accordance with the jointly developed game plan. Professionalism, respect, and courage are three key words there. The concept #aktivtsnäll (active kindness) guides our goal-oriented and promoting work for safety and study environment. Based on this, we have also chosen to be a mobile-phone-free school.
Have we sparked your curiosity? Are you an engaged teacher who wants to develop further at our workplace? Then you are welcome to apply to us!

Domarhagsskolan has a special education group, and we are now looking for a teacher for it. You should be secure, clear, and relationship-building. You will work with students in need of special support in an environment where the focus is on safety, study environment, and knowledge development.
Since a special education group involves an adapted environment with students facing significant challenges, you as a teacher need to place great emphasis on both safety and structure and possess personal maturity. The role involves teaching and supporting students in various ways, and often you will need to think outside the box to reach all individuals. As a teaching teacher in the special education group, you are responsible for documentation and have extensive contact with students. The focus is always on providing students with a calm study place, maintaining their knowledge development, and preparing them for further studies.
You will work in a team with other staff. The position includes teaching primarily in mathematics and Natural Sciences (NO), but also in Swedish. Since we believe in the school as a unified entity, you will also teach mathematics in a lower secondary class at the school.
You must have a teaching license in the subjects mentioned above and must have a very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. At the interview stage, you must be able to present an approved extract from the police record (background check) for work within the school. We would appreciate it if you have experience in similar assignments and have knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD) and trauma-adapted pedagogy. For the position to be a permanent employment, you need to be a licensed teacher.
Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: Start date: 2026-08-10 Or by agreement.
