Support Assistant for New Short-Term Care Facility for Children and Youth in Östra Göinge

The Functional Support department has launched an entirely new facility providing short-term stays and short-term supervision for children and young people under the LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments), and we are now looking to expand our staff.

Job Description

At our facility, children and young people have the opportunity for a change of environment, community, and activities that strengthen their independence and quality of life. You will become an important part of a team together with support assistants, support educators, and the unit manager. Together, we are building a facility characterized by security, quality, clear structure, and always with a focus on the best interests of the child.

Your duties will be varied, meaningful, and creative.

In the role of Support Assistant, you work closely with children and young people with various disabilities. You support them in their daily lives and help them develop skills that prepare them for the future, and you create a meaningful leisure time together. The work may include, among other things:

• Creating a secure, structured, and inclusive environment
• Working with clarifying pedagogy and low-affective handling
• Supporting activities, social contacts, meals, and personal care
• Being creative and finding activities both indoors and outdoors based on individual needs
• Handling and preventing challenging behaviors in a professional and calm manner
• Documenting, following up, and working based on implementation plans
• Collaborating with guardians, schools, and other professions

Our child and youth facility will have close cooperation with other facilities, which means you need to be flexible and able to work in other facilities as needed.

Working hours are day, evening, and weekend. On-call duty may become relevant later on.

Qualifications

You who apply have at least a high school education:

• Child and Youth Program (social and pedagogical work)
• Care and Nursing Program with a focus on disabilities

You may also have education as a youth worker or other education with a focus on children, young people, and/or disabilities that the employer deems relevant.

You must also have experience working with children and young people.

It is an advantage if you:

• Have experience working within LSS facilities.
• Have education in clarifying pedagogy, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), TEACCH, or low-affective handling.
• Have knowledge of or experience with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD), intellectual disabilities, or other functional variations.
• Have experience working with children with extensive support needs.
• Have experience with social documentation and implementation plans.

Works based on the facility's values and current legislation. Contributes actively to a secure, inclusive, and developmental environment for children, young people, and colleagues.

We are looking for you who:

• Have a genuine interest in working with children and young people.
• Are secure, stable, and have a professional approach.
• Can create good relationships and build trust with children, guardians, and colleagues.
• Are sensitive to each child's individual needs and conditions.
• Have a pedagogical approach and can adapt your handling based on the situation and individual.
• Are creative and proactive in planning activities.
• Can work both independently and in a team.
• Are flexible and have good collaboration skills.
• Have the ability to remain calm and maintain respectful handling even in challenging situations.

You have good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish, as well as good computer skills and experience with documentation. You have a Category B driver's license.

A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) must be presented before employment can take place.
