The Department of Student Health and Coordination is looking for a counselor who wants to be part of our important initiative to strengthen our parental support efforts in the city's municipal upper secondary schools.

Job Responsibilities

In your role, you work in a supportive capacity to help parents strengthen their ability to support their children's schooling and development. You initiate and lead parental support initiatives, both individually and in groups. You collaborate with the school's student health team, the school social team, as well as staff at the Municipal Activity Responsibility (KAA). By actively participating in this collaboration and contributing to systematic quality work, you strive to continuously improve support for both students and parents. Your goal is to create an environment where both students and parents feel secure and where students are given the best possible conditions to reach their full potential.

This position involves evening work.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Social Work degree (210 ECTS credits)
• Several years of experience in social work with a focus on children and youth
• Experience working with parental support at both individual and group levels
• Good understanding of school goals and policy documents
• Good digital competence
• Good command of Swedish, both spoken and written.

Merits:

• Training in Motivational Interviewing
• Experience working as a counselor in a school setting
• Experience working with children and youth within social services
• Experience in work involving motivational/coaching conversations
• Experience leading groups
• Good habit of collaborating with other authorities and participating in various networks.

The role of counselor requires you to be confident in your professional role and capable of handling complex issues at both the individual and systemic levels. You analyze problems, find solutions, and drive your work independently and in a structured manner. You adapt easily to changing conditions, absorb new information, and see opportunities in new situations. Furthermore, you communicate clearly, listen actively, and build trust in meetings with guardians and colleagues. You collaborate well with other professions and work relationally, with respect and sensitivity. You also value differences and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect oneself and others.
