Your Role

Aerospace Systems and the T-7s Engineering organization are looking for an engineer who wants to take the opportunity to work with flight testing at Edwards Air Force Base – the epicenter of flight testing. Located in the USA, you will be involved in the testing of the US Air Force's next trainer aircraft, the T-7A. At Saab, you work in a project format together with pilots, development engineers, and test engineers. Together, we drive test-related issues all the way from design to a validated product.

Based at Edwards Air Force Base, you are the link between the test operations in the USA (US Air Force and Boeing) and operations at Saab in Sweden. This position offers a unique opportunity for you to work with advanced technology in an international context. You act as an ambassador for Saab in the T-7 program and will be the focal point for many different issues from our American colleagues.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving of complex systems
• Daily communication and coordination with operations in Sweden
• Preparation and execution of aircraft tests
• Real-time monitoring of flight tests
• Analysis and evaluation of test results

Your Profile

We are looking for you who have a background as a systems engineer with a strong technical interest combined with a commitment to creating and maintaining good collaborations around a common task. Since the work takes place in dialogue with others in an international context, it is important that you have the ability to adapt your behavior based on an understanding of the individual, situation, and culture. We place great emphasis on your ability to communicate and build the network required for the role, both within the home organization in Sweden and on-site in the USA.

Being comfortable working independently and goal-oriented according to your own priorities is crucial because you are one of the few engineers sent to the USA. This means you must enjoy making necessary contacts and utilizing your good communication skills to move the task forward. In verbal dialogue, you use both Swedish and English, but documentation is primarily conducted in English.

To succeed in the role, we believe you:

• Have a university degree or civil engineer degree
• Have a strong technical interest with a few years of experience in basic aircraft systems and/or flight testing
• Have experience working in a development project
• Master Swedish and English in speech and writing, as much of the documentation is done in English

The expatriate period is normally 1–2 years, and preparations for the assignment begin as soon as the recruitment is complete.

The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to current security clearance regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for specific citizenship.
