As a Flight Test Engineer, you will become part of a highly specialized flight test organization responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating ground and flight tests on advanced aircraft platforms. The role involves translating development needs, verification requirements, and certification requirements into concrete test programs and ensuring that testing is carried out in a safe, methodical, and efficient manner. You will work through the entire test process – from analyzing test requirements and creating test plans to leading the execution of tests and evaluating results after the flight. As a flight test engineer, you have a coordinating role where you collaborate closely with designers, technicians, airworthiness specialists, and test pilots. You will work with areas such as avionics, communication systems, flight systems, flight performance, and flight characteristics. The role includes among other things:
- Plan, prepare, conduct, and report on ground and flight tests
- Create test programs, test plans, and test methodology
- Define the need for measurement equipment and measurement systems
- Lead and coordinate test execution on board the aircraft
- Ensure that testing is carried out according to current safety and certification requirements
- Analyze and evaluate test data
- Collaborate with project teams, design organizations, technicians, and pilots to verify new functions and systems
You will belong to a cohesive team consisting of flight test engineers, test pilots, sub-project leaders, analysts, safety and quality specialists, as well as engineers working with data analysis and methodology development in MATLAB and Python. The culture is characterized by close collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a strong desire to help each other across disciplinary boundaries to achieve the best possible results. As a new employee in the role, you are offered a structured training program with both internal courses and crew training. In the long term, there is also the opportunity to undergo specialized flight test training. Your profile We are looking for you who have a strong technical interest and are attracted to working in an environment where technology, aviation operations, and safety meet. You are curious, analytical, and enjoy tackling complex technical challenges. At the same time, you are humble and unpretentious, with an understanding that success is created through collaboration and knowledge exchange. To thrive in the role, you need to be calm and methodical, even in situations where many stakeholders are involved and decisions need to be made with high precision. Flight safety is always in focus, which places demands on good judgment, responsibility, and the ability to communicate clearly. We also believe that you are a team player who appreciates working closely with colleagues with different specialist competencies and who contributes to an open climate where it is natural to ask questions and learn from each other. Requirements:
- Master of Science or Bachelor of Science degree in fields such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, or equivalent
- At least one year of relevant work experience in fields such as aviation operations, testing/verification, design, system development, or similar
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Good health and the possibility to undergo and pass a Class 2 flight medical examination for crew members
- Experience of flight testing or other testing and test activities
- Experience from the aviation industry or other technically advanced operations, for example the automotive industry
- Knowledge within avionics, flight systems, radio and communication systems, or electrical systems
- Experience with MATLAB and/or Python
- Private pilot license or other aviation-related experience
- A genuine and documented interest in aviation
- Experience of working in an operation with high demands on safety, quality, and compliance with regulations
