Do you want to make a real impact and create change? Here you contribute to creating security for people and societies. What you do matters.
Your role
Do you want to work at the heart of Saab's flight test operations for the Gripen and be a key player in ensuring that our test aircraft are safe and airworthy every time they take off?
As an Airworthiness Engineer (AE) within CAMO at Flight Test & Verification in Linköping, you will combine advanced flight technology with regulations, analysis, and daily operational support. This role is perfect for you if you thrive at the intersection of technology, flight safety, and operational decision-making.
You will become part of our Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO), responsible for the continuing airworthiness of Saab's test fleet. Together with the flight test operations, maintenance organization (MRO), design organization, and our regulatory authority contacts, you will ensure that our aircraft meet current requirements and can be used safely and efficiently in test operations.
As an Airworthiness Engineer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that airworthiness requirements are identified, interpreted, and translated into concrete actions within the CAMO operations.
- Contributing to the development and updating of airworthiness documentation, such as supporting documents for Permit to Fly, Airworthiness Review documentation, and associated technical assessments.
- Monitoring operational and maintenance experience (ODR, PLUA, etc.) and initiating and driving actions in the event of deviations and incidents affecting airworthiness and flight safety.
- Participating in, and occasionally leading, technical investigations related to defects, incidents, and technical changes.
- Contributing to risk analyses, change requests (modifications, configuration changes), and various types of technical reviews where airworthiness and flight safety are affected.
At Saab, you will have excellent opportunities for development, both through specialist deepening in airworthiness and through broader responsibilities within test and airworthiness operations. In your daily work, this means a combination of office-based analysis, participation in technical forums, and ongoing dialogue with both the technical and operational sides to ensure that the right decisions are made at the right time.
Your profile
We are looking for you who have a good understanding of complex technical systems and thrive working at the intersection of technology, regulations, and operational use. You have the ability to work analytically and structurally, as well as document your assessments in a clear and pedagogical manner. You have an interest in both supporting others and taking initiative to drive improvements.
You have:
- A technical educational background, preferably in flight technology, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics, or equivalent.
- Experience from aviation, defense, or other safety-critical operations, preferably with a connection to airworthiness, certification, flight safety, or maintenance.
- Very good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Knowledge of military airworthiness regulations, such as EMAR/SE.EMAR or equivalent.
- Experience from CAMO or MRO operations, preferably in roles with technical responsibility.
- Experience from test operations, flight test activities, or an aviation operational environment.
The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the security clearance regulations in force at any given time. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail citizenship requirements.
What you will be part of
Discover endless possibilities. Take on challenges, create smart innovations, and upgrade your skills. This is a place for clever thinkers, brave pioneers, and everyone in between. Together we achieve the extraordinary, each bringing their unique perspective. Every contribution counts.
