Special Teacher, Grades 4–6, focusing on Swedish, Swedish as a Second Language, and Language, Reading, and Writing Development
Do you want to make a real difference in students' learning?
We are looking for an engaged and experienced special teacher who wants to be a key part of our work to create an accessible, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where all students are given the opportunity to succeed.
Here, you will become a central part of the school's student health team and work closely with students, teachers, guardians, and school leadership. The position is targeted at grades 4–6 with a focus on Swedish, Swedish as a second language, as well as language, reading, and writing development.
About the Role
As a special teacher, you work preventively, promotively, and remedially to provide students with the right support based on their needs. You combine teaching with guidance and development work, actively contributing to the school's efforts to develop an accessible learning environment.
Teaching takes place individually, in small groups, or together with the classroom teacher in the classroom.
You primarily work with students who need support in:
- Swedish and Swedish as a second language
- Language, reading, and writing development
- Reading comprehension and writing development
- Study skills and learning strategies
- Digital and compensatory aids
Responsibilities
As a special teacher, you will among other things:
- Plan, implement, and follow up on special pedagogical support measures
- Teach students individually, in small groups, and in class
- Assess students' needs and propose additional adjustments and special support
- Participate in pedagogical assessments and draft, follow up, and evaluate action plans
- Conduct screenings and analyze results at the individual, group, and organizational levels
- Guide and support teachers in language, reading, and writing development methods
- Contribute to the development of the school's inclusive learning environment
- Actively participate in the student health team's preventive and health-promoting work
- Collaborate with students, guardians, colleagues, and external partners
- Document work according to current routines
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a certified special teacher with a focus on language, reading, and writing development and/or Swedish as a second language
- Has a teaching license with eligibility to teach Swedish and/or Swedish as a second language for grades 4–6
- Has experience teaching in lower secondary school
- Has good experience working with students in need of special support
- Has good knowledge of language, reading, and writing development
- Has experience with pedagogical assessments, investigations, and action plans
- Has knowledge of ADHD/Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how teaching and learning environments can be adapted to meet different students' needs
- Has good digital competence and experience with compensatory aids
- Expresses yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing
Merits
