We are now offering an exciting position as a Supervising Deacon at Växjö Cathedral!

New position starting after summer

We are currently seeking a deacon who wishes to develop the diaconal work involving both volunteers and employed staff at the Växjö Cathedral unit. The role includes meeting individuals in and around the church space, leading groups, and participating in various types of worship services.

You will serve as the supervisor for staff at the hospital church and parts of the cathedral's work team. You will also contribute to developing the parish's collaboration with the local community regarding crisis and emergency preparedness issues, and you will be part of the cathedral's management group, which includes the Parish Priest, Cathedral Chaplain, Cathedral Organist, and Head of Service at the Cathedral Unit.

We are looking for you who:

We are looking for you who are an ordained deacon or accepted as a deacon candidate within the Church of Sweden, with experience working both within the parish and with external stakeholders such as the municipality, schools, hospitals, police, etc. We would appreciate that you have leadership experience and a genuine interest in developing both people and operations.

You are self-assured and build trust. You thrive on variety and can easily switch pace between individual meetings and larger contexts. You have a drive for development and can work independently, but with a clear desire to collaborate. You have a good ability to engage others in being the church and wish to contribute to the opportunity for people of all ages, regardless of prior knowledge, to grow in faith, community, and various missions within the parish. Personal suitability is of great importance.

Valid driver's license (Class B).
