Gemöskolan is looking for a Student Assistant

Gemöskolan is looking for you who want to work as a student assistant with children in lower secondary school (grades 1-3) and at the school leisure center (fritidshem) at Gemöskolan in Älmhult.

Approximately 250 students from preschool class to grade 6 attend Gemöskolan. The school is centrally located in Älmhult, within walking distance of most amenities. We work on the principle that all students should have access to an equal education. Since we have a socio-economically disadvantaged catchment area, you as an applicant must be interested in other cultures and understand that the staff at Gemöskolan have a significant compensatory mission. You must be solution-focused, and your view of the student is important. You must believe that all students can reach their best potential, and you must also work to provide them with the conditions to reach as far as possible. To do this, you need to be flexible and mindful of working together with your colleagues to create an accessible learning environment for everyone.

Responsibilities

Do you want to work closely with a student who needs a safe, stable, and attentive adult by their side throughout the day? We are now looking for an engaged student assistant where relationship-building, structure, and clarity are central parts of the teaching.

As a student assistant, you work closely with students who need support in handling the school's different environments and situations, both in the classroom, during breaks, and at the leisure center. You are present and responsive, with the ability to quickly perceive what is happening around you. The role involves being close to the student throughout the day and actively contributing to safety, focus, and continuity.

You will work closely with experienced educators and student health services in a operation where diversity is seen as a strength. Here, there is an opportunity to make a real difference in a child's school day and be an important part of the student's safety and development. Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a confident and relationship-building person with a good ability to read situations and adapt to the student's needs. You are attentive, flexible, and proactive, and you maintain your calm even when the pace changes. Experience working with children in need of special support and those with ADHD/Autism (NPF) is meritorious. You also have an inclusive approach and thrive in a multicultural environment where differences are seen as an asset.

We would prefer that you have education as a childcare worker or social pedagogue.

Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
