System Engineer / Solution Architect

We are now looking for a Solution Architect for the IT and Digitalization Unit. The IT and Digitalization Unit is part of the agency's headquarters, centrally located in Stockholm, and is responsible for IT operations, IT governance, and IT development. A prioritized part of the work is to increase the pace of digitalization. The National Board of Forensic Medicine is currently implementing several development initiatives and is therefore expanding its IT and digitalization organization.

Your Role

Do you want to work in a varied position in a dynamic IT environment where you are responsible for critical integrations and our long-term solution architecture? As a Solution Architect at the National Board of Forensic Medicine, you contribute vital expertise to the team that shapes and develops the agency's IT environment. The role involves an exciting balance between strategic and operational work with both internal and external integration flows.

You take overall responsibility for ensuring our systems communicate securely, stably, and efficiently, where our API Manager and integration platform are central components in daily work. In addition to developing and maintaining integration solutions, you will become an important technical expert and advisor in our long-term development projects and improvement initiatives. Since we are primarily a client organization, the role also involves acting as a technical requirement setter and bridge to our external suppliers, where you ensure quality assurance that their deliveries follow our integration architecture.

Qualifications

• Relevant IT education at university level or University College level (YH), or equivalent knowledge acquired through several years of practical work in system development and architecture.
• Experience in system development, work with integration platforms, or API development.
• Experience designing integration architecture in complex environments with modern integration patterns and protocols (e.g., REST, gRPC, AMQP).
• Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Merits

• Good knowledge of e.g., Java, .NET, or Python.
• Practical experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with cloud architecture (hybrid environments) and modernization of legacy systems.
• Experience working in the public sector and knowledge of frameworks such as SDK (Secure Digital Communication) or eSam guidelines.
• Experience architecturally integrating and making AI/ML services and language models (LLM) available via APIs.
• Experience from government operations with high demands on confidentiality and security.

Personal Attributes and Skills

To succeed in this position, you must have a pronounced ability to collaborate, as you have many contact points daily within both the IT unit and the agency as a whole. It is crucial that you are resilient and show good judgment in making trade-offs and prioritizations in your daily work. You are proactive in both large and small matters and always consider the holistic perspective. You must also possess analytical skills and be knowledgeable and up-to-date in the IT field in general, as the role serves as a central knowledge resource for both the group and the entire unit.

Employment

The employment is a permanent full-time position starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date is by agreement. Placement is at one of the agency's units. The agency's units are located in different parts of Sweden, so business travel may occur. Depending on operational needs, there is an opportunity to make individual agreements regarding remote work for part of the working hours. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting.
