Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually tailored involuntary care for youth with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. Working at SiS offers you a challenging and exciting career. Regardless of where you work within our organization or what role you hold, you play a vital part in creating life-changing change.
SiS Youth Home Långanäs receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial problems, criminal behavior, and substance abuse.
Job Description
We are currently looking for family therapists for SiS Youth Home Långanäs. The target group you will meet consists of non-compulsory school-age boys aged 16–21. Family therapists at SiS follow families during a time when much is at stake. Through conversations, home visits, and relationship work, they strive to strengthen the bonds between young people and their parents and create conditions for change. Working as a family therapist at SiS means meeting families when relationships are strained and when young people are in difficult situations. In this work, family therapists are a support system but also a driving force to open doors to new paths forward.
As a family therapist, you ensure good cooperation with the young person's family and network to create security during placement. Throughout the entire placement, you maintain close cooperation with social services or other key actors to also create a stable foundation for life after placement. Family therapists work flexibly regarding digital communication, physical meetings with families, and in some cases, in their homes. Working hours are during the day, but work outside office hours may occasionally be required in connection with young people's return home or move from the youth home.
As a family therapist, you will have a significant role in the treatment team at the youth home and actively work with treatment interventions and their evaluation.

Qualifications
You must have the following:
- A relevant university degree such as a social worker or other behavioral science education (at least 180 ECTS credits), or equivalent experience/knowledge that the employer deems equivalent.
It is meritorious to have equivalent "step 1" competence in psychotherapy (family or cognitive behavioral therapy focus) and/or experience in family therapy work.
As a family therapist, you need the ability to instill trust and hope in families. Be brave and dare to talk about difficult things while simultaneously finding the positive strengths within the family. You must be able to distinguish between personal and private matters to build trust in the family therapist, the youth home, and SiS. Listen, communicate, and handle conflicts constructively. Have the ability to remain motivated and effective despite setbacks and disappointments. Be able to work until projects are completed or results are achieved. It is important that you, as a family therapist, have the ability to create good collaborations and see teamwork as fundamental to care. It is meritorious to have previously worked with young people and their family/network.
At SiS, we value good employee relations. This means that you, as an employee, take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation. Read more about employee relations and leadership (https://www.stat-inst.se/jobba-hos-oss/medarbetarskap-och-ledarskap/).
