We are looking for a Migration Case Worker for the asylum reception units at the Reception and Return Centre in Märsta. Here, we are establishing several new operations, including application processing, asylum assessment, and reception, in addition to the existing return activities. The establishment of the centre is part of the national reform of asylum reception and the implementation of the EU's Migration and Asylum Pact.
Description of the Centre
The centre is a new type of workplace. You will work with issues that engage and involve you in a dynamic environment characterized by encounters with people and influenced by developments in our surroundings. It is also an environment marked by continuous learning and participation. Through co-location, we have better conditions for working closely together across professions in the asylum process. We are also close to the asylum seeker by working where they live, allowing us to work more efficiently and provide greater security for the applicant.
This is an international environment, both due to the proximity to Arlanda Airport where most people arrive in and leave Sweden, and because the authority will become more integrated into a common European asylum reception and EU authorities such as Frontex and EUAA over the next year. Since the operations are under development, there are many opportunities for growth. You are expected to be open to the fact that your skills and commitment are needed for various tasks at the centre, where service and guidance are recurring elements.
What does a Migration Case Worker do in a centre operation?
As a Migration Case Worker, you handle, investigate, and decide on various types of cases. The decisions have legal effect for individuals and affect their entitlement to benefits, rights, and obligations. In addition, you work with administration in digital systems, handling files and documents that have been received or created in a case.
In your role, you meet and converse with people living in the centre as well as actors operating there. Conversations may involve notifying about decisions, informing about the Swedish Migration Agency's processes, providing guidance, and offering service. You identify and handle any specific needs of individuals and, where applicable, hold conversations with adults and children in vulnerable situations.
Migration Case Workers at the centre work with the following:
- Receive and register applications for international protection and other tasks within initial processing.
- Work on the assessment of applications and other measures in initial processing at the centre related to the new asylum procedure.
- Work on return through handling removal and deportation decisions, departure schemes, supervision and detention, and other coercive measures.
- Practical work in the living environment, such as move-in to living rooms.
- Transportation to and from residences may be required, though this is not common.
- Service and guidance to those seeking protection and other stakeholders.
- Conversations and investigations related to vulnerabilities and reception needs of applicants.
- Contact with authorities related to application, reception, legal residence, detention, and other enforcement issues.
- Collaboration with voluntary organizations/NGOs.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have good collaboration skills, are receptive, and constructive in your approach. You have an interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to deliver solutions. You are clear in your communication and ensure that the message gets through and that expectations are clear for all involved parties. Furthermore, you are structured and can independently plan and organize work efficiently towards set goals and deadlines. You are flexible and adapt easily, changing your perspective and attitude when circumstances change.
In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.
You who apply have
- An academic education of at least 120 hp with a legal, social science, or behavioral science focus, or other education combined with relevant and current experience for the role.
- Knowledge of administrative law cases.
- Experience in work requiring good service and professional conduct.
- Good communication skills and express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
- Good knowledge of the Office package.
It is meritorious if you have
- Current experience in handling administrative law cases.
- Experience working with people in vulnerable situations.
