Description

Do you want to work closely with students and contribute to their health, security, and development in everyday life? With us, you will become an important part of the student health team and have the opportunity to make a real difference for children and young people. We are now looking for an engaged counselor who wants to develop together with us and make an impact in the daily lives of children and young people.

Approximately 300 students from preschool class to grade 6 attend Kvarnbergsskolan. The school is centrally located in Karlstad with good opportunities for both learning and varied outdoor activities.

Our operations are characterized by the keywords together, knowledge, security, and joy. We actively work for an inclusive environment where all students have the opportunity to develop based on their prerequisites.

Job Responsibilities

The position is located at Kvarnbergsskolan where you will work as a school counselor. Up to 40% of the position may, if necessary, be distributed centrally within Learning and Health, which means that you will also contribute to a broader student health effort.

As a school counselor with us, you work both preventively and promotively in close collaboration with school management, the student health team, and other staff. You contribute psychosocial competence as support in the pedagogical work and in the development of the school's operations.

The assignment includes, among other things:

  • contributing knowledge about students' psychosocial health and social situation
  • being a support to teachers and other staff in student-related matters
  • working with the school's value base and equal treatment
  • providing supervision and consultation to staff
  • collaborating with external actors and contributing knowledge about society's support systems
  • conducting support, motivational, advisory, and crisis conversations with students and guardians
  • investigate and assess students' social and psychosocial situations as a basis for decisions on special support

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker. We view positively if you have experience working with children and young people, but we value your personal suitability and engagement just as highly. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and can document your work in a professional manner.

We are looking for you who are self-initiating and take responsibility for driving your work forward. At the same time, you have good cooperation skills and thrive in close collaboration with colleagues in the student health team.

You are sensitive, relationship-building, and have a professional approach towards students, guardians, and colleagues. We value that you have a genuine commitment to the development of children and young people and want to contribute to a secure and inclusive school environment.

Due to the summer vacation, we will begin the selection and interviews in early August, hence the longer application period.

What we offer
