Unit for Military Capability and Operations, Ministry of Defence

Do you want to work at the center of events regarding Swedish and international defense policy? We are looking for you who wish to contribute to Sweden's security through developing tasks in a very varied work environment.

We are looking for a case officer who will work with matters according to the Environmental Code, the Planning and Building Act, as well as physical planning, including national interests. The tasks concern the development of the military defense within the framework of total defense, with a focus on analysis, direction, and follow-up.

The tasks require conducting analyses from a capability and defense perspective, as well as a good understanding of defense policy. The duties include, among other things, following up, directing, and developing the military defense, independently processing cases prior to government decisions, following up issues, and preparing cases within the area of responsibility both nationally and internationally. You will prepare materials for political leadership and prepare answers to parliamentary questions, interpellations, and questions from the public.

The Unit for Military Capability currently has approximately 35 employees and is responsible for issues concerning military capability. The unit handles issues such as the military defense's wartime organization, basic organization, capability development, the military defense's environmentally impactful activities, military mobility, infrastructure, host nation support, personnel supply within the military defense, and the military defense's support to society.

Your background

You who apply for the position have an academic degree with a focus relevant to the position, such as political science or law. Additional merit is given for adequate environmental education. You have experience working as a case officer with relevant issues in the Government Offices or at agencies within the Ministry of Defence's area. The position requires good knowledge of Swedish public administration. We expect you to have good knowledge of defense policy, the military, and/or civil defense. You have good knowledge of the Environmental Code or planning and building legislation, physical planning, and the national interest system.

Mercenary for the position is experience from working as a case officer with issues concerning environmental permits, planning and construction, physical planning, or national interests. Knowledge of NATO and the EU is also meritorious, as is a national network relevant to the position. The position requires a very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

You thrive taking significant responsibility and working independently but in close collaboration with your colleagues. In your work, you have many contact surfaces within, among other things, the ministry, the Government Offices, and other agencies, which requires a very good ability to collaborate and contribute to smooth operations. You are result-oriented and expected to quickly adapt to new situations. The pace is occasionally high, requiring you to have the ability to make necessary prioritizations between different tasks. The position also requires a very good ability to analyze and understand different aspects of complex issues. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

Other information

We are looking for an employee for a permanent position with an initial six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement. The workplace is in Stockholm. There is some possibility to work remotely if the operations allow. Swedish citizenship is required for employment at the Ministry of Defence. The position is classified for security clearance, and a security investigation with register check will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
