The Analysis Function works on behalf of the political leadership and the ministry's subject units. The work involves analyzing reform proposals, conducting impact assessments, and producing statistical and written materials that support the development of policy. The work also involves international contacts, including within EU cooperation and the OECD. Another part of the function's operations is to maintain and develop data and statistics to support the analysis work.

The Analysis Function consists of eight employees and a group manager, all with a quantitatively oriented social science background, mainly in economics and/or statistics. The function is led by the group manager, who reports directly to the unit manager.

The work as an analyst for the Analysis Function means that you will work with several different issues within the ministry's policy areas, such as public health or healthcare. You contribute with analyses and decision-making materials that are central to policy development and for assessing the effects of reforms.

As an analyst, you will among other things:

• Perform calculations and analyses of proposals and reforms within the ministry's areas of responsibility
• Produce materials, analyses, and statistics for subject units and political leadership
• Develop working methods and approaches both independently and together with others

Your background

You have a completed academic education in, for example, economics, public health science, health economics, statistics, or another education considered relevant for the position. Furthermore, you have at least five years of professional experience in qualified quantitative analysis work and good knowledge of quantitative analysis methods as well as the application of quantitative analysis on microdata. You also have good knowledge of welfare systems and a great interest in economic issues and conditions. To succeed in the role, you also have programming skills in SAS, R, or other comparable software.

A PhD or doctoral degree in one of the mentioned areas is meritorious. Experience from the Government Offices or another state authority is also meritorious. Furthermore, we would appreciate if you have experience of policy analysis and/or policy development. Knowledge of and experience in the application of microsimulation models, such as the FASIT model, is also meritorious.

Your characteristics

You are a creative and analytical person with a good ability to transform complex materials into useful decision-making materials. You have a good ability to write decision-making materials or summary memoranda. The role involves many contact surfaces, which means that you need to have good cooperation and communication skills as well as the ability to create and maintain good relationships both within and outside the function and unit. Under time pressure, you show a good sense of still delivering with the right quality.

Other

The employment is a permanent position with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement. A security clearance will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
