We are looking for summer substitutes for our residences at Mikaelgården!

Mikaelgården offers housing for children and young people within the LSS (Support and Service Act for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) and HVB (Hem för vård eller boende) frameworks, and operates a primary school and a special needs primary school. We are a non-profit therapeutic-pedagogical operation with a Waldorf-oriented school.

At Mikaelgården, we have created a therapeutic environment for children who need more than temporary point interventions. The students, who are of primary school age, come from all over the country and display a broad spectrum of different mental and social functional variations. Common diagnoses include ADD, ADHD, Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Tourette's syndrome.

We are looking for you who are educated in the field; assistant nurse, social pedagogue, treatment assistant, leisure-time pedagogue, social worker, behavioral scientist, or other similar education.

About Mikaelgården

Mikaelgården is located in a beautiful natural setting a short distance outside Järna center. Teaching premises, assembly hall, dining room, and residences are all located on the same site and form a living context, which creates a special sense of security and togetherness.

There are seven residences at Mikaelgården in close proximity to the school. In each residence, 4–5 children/young people live. Three of our residences have permits according to LSS and four have permits for HVB.

We offer a warm and pleasant atmosphere with a clear daily rhythm. Here, opportunities are given for social training, as well as practice in everything related to the practical tasks of daily life. Our basic idea is to strengthen the child's inherent abilities, and we are convinced that there are great development possibilities within every individual. We work individually with all children to create security, wholeness, context, and development.

About the Position

To work with us, you need, in addition to relevant education, a genuine interest in children and young people.

The tasks include, besides activating and socializing with the children/young people, ordinary daily chores such as cleaning, cooking, etc. You will accompany our young people on various activities where you are expected to participate. It is necessary that you can follow, inspire, and sometimes motivate. The work also includes documentation and contact with parents.

The work requires that you are secure in yourself, and that you can handle and have experience with challenging behaviors. We also place great emphasis on being an active participant in the work team as an employee and following common guidelines and routines. You are expected to be able to work both independently and in a group.

We are an operation that believes in community and its power. And we believe that having fun at work is important.

Working hours: Rolling schedule including on-call duties, weekends, and evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Education is a requirement.
• Previous experience working with children with neuropsychiatric disabilities and low-affective handling is a requirement.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities. You are responsible, flexible, and good at building relationships, making contact, and maintaining a close dialogue with other colleagues in the organization.
