Stockholm – our capital city of millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone who lives here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and different with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
Together we shape a safe and meaningful leisure time for children and young people. As a youth worker (fritidsledare) with us, you contribute to the work by planning and carrying out leisure activities together with visitors at our youth centers, playgrounds, and targeted meeting places. The unit offers, among other things, targeted activities for children and young people with disabilities, a meeting place for the HBTQIA community, and a mobile youth worker team.
We offer
At the Youth Unit Vällingby, you as an employee will be part of an engaged team, contribute to the development of operations, and make a real difference for children and young people. You have the opportunity for supervision in your work and access to close and trust-based leadership.
Here you can read more about benefits for those employed by the City of Stockholm.
Your role
The assignment involves taking advantage of visitors' resources from a promoting perspective and offering opportunities for our children and young people to realize their ideas. The unit's task is to develop work to both increase youth participation and the youth-produced range of activities. The KEKS curriculum is a support in the work. Young people's own projects, competencies, and interests are at the center. A large part of the operations takes place outdoors year-round. All operations have a strong focus on movement, sports, and health.
Your most common tasks include:
- Plan and carry out activities within the area of violence prevention MVP leisure
- Plan and carry out holiday activities and various events
- Administrative work, planning, collaboration, and outreach activities
- Participate in play and activities together with the children when the facility is open
- Spread information about the open leisure activities, guide new children to participate in the content of the activities, and work outreach in partner schools.
Your competence and experience
For this position, you are required to have:
- Education as a youth worker (fritidsledare) or alternatively a youth pedagogue/teacher in youth centers equivalent to two years of study
- Experience working with children and young people
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
We consider the following to be meritorious:
- Experience with documentation in KEKS
- Experience working at an open meeting place
- Experience working within disability-focused activities, including adapted activities, interaction, and support for children and young people with various functional variations
We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in children's and young people's leisure time and who are driven by strengthening children and young people in their development through informal learning. You are proactive and have the ability to be flexible in your role without fear of looking foolish, for example through play during activities. You are service-oriented and have good collaboration skills.
Other
In this recruitment process, you will answer a number of questions where you describe your competence in the area instead of sending a cover letter. For the selection process, it is important that your CV clearly shows which professional roles you have held, for which employer, and during what period the employment lasted. In assessing your application, we will base our evaluation on your CV and your answers to the selection questions.
A police certificate (register extract) will be requested before employment becomes current.
The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aiming to consider each person's competence and thereby counteract discrimination.
