Temporary Treatment Assistant for HVB Almen in Stockholm

The Social Services Administration in Stockholm City has an overarching and coordinating role for social services regarding individual and family care and disability services. Here, good conditions are created to meet residents in need of social support. In close collaboration with the district administrations, we contribute to a modern, digital, legally secure, equal, and knowledge-based social service, with a strong focus on development. Within the administration, a wide range of support measures are offered to the city's residents, and the offering changes based on the needs of Stockholmers and the requests of the district administrations. The work is often carried out in close cooperation with other authorities, civil society, and business life. The Social Services Administration is also responsible for the city's catering and tobacco licenses and conducts supervision.

Here you have the opportunity to combine treatment work with relationship-building and practical daily support.

Stockholm City's HVB Almen opened in August 2025 and is located on Norra Djurgården. The facility offers eight places for boys aged 13–15 who are placed according to the Social Services Act (SoL) or the Act with Special Provisions on Care of Young People (LVU).

The target group consists of boys with emerging substance abuse, emerging criminality, non-aggressive norm-breaking behavior, acting-out behavior, other social norm-breaking or destructive behavior, care deficiencies, and other psychosocial problems.

The facility is designed in accordance with the government's guidelines for residential care (HVB) and corresponds to the target group that will be covered by general homes in the future.

The work group consists of social workers, night treatment assistants, an administrative assistant, unit managers, and group leaders.

Your role

As a temporary treatment assistant at HVB Almen, you are a central part of the young people's daily lives and work closely with them to create security, stability, and opportunities for change. The foundation of your work is relationship-building – by building trust, you create the conditions for development.

You conduct treatment conversations and work motivationally based on the young person's individual needs, while also contributing to creating structure in daily life through support in school, routines, leisure time, and relationships.

You actively participate in daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, exercise, homework, and leisure tasks, where the young people receive support to develop skills and strengthen their self-esteem.

Our work model

The work at HVB Almen is based on a clear treatment structure. Relationship-building is always the foundation, where trust between staff and young people creates the conditions for change. With an ecotherapeutic approach, we use everyday life as an active part of the treatment.

The treatment work is CBT-oriented, focusing on understanding and changing thought patterns and behaviors. To increase the young people's motivation and participation, we use MI (Motivational Interviewing) as a conversation model. The entire facility is permeated by TMO (Trauma-Informed Care), where we always meet the young people with knowledge of trauma, security, and stability.

Stockholm City's HVB homes work based on a rolling schedule with shifts during days, evenings, nights, and weekends. There is a need for substitutes for all types of shifts, sometimes with short notice and sometimes with a bit longer lead time.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for you who have:

• a degree in social work, social pedagogy (University College degree), or what the employer considers equivalent
• ongoing education towards becoming a social worker or what the employer considers equivalent
• an interest in working with young people and experience of working with young people
• good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

It is meritorious if you have:

• At least 1 year of experience working with young people with social problems and challenging behavior
• experience working in an HVB home or another facility that the employer considers equivalent
• experience with treatment work, family therapy, or work with substance abuse
• knowledge of low-affective interaction
• knowledge of neuropsychiatry
• knowledge of milieu therapy
