In Upplands-Bro Municipality, we are approximately 2,000 employees dedicated to providing our residents and visitors with the best possible service and experience of the municipality. With us, you help build a municipality where a holistic perspective, engagement, and professionalism permeate the organization, and together we carry out our common societal mission.
The Youth Department is tasked with creating safe, inclusive, and developmental environments where young people in the municipality are given the opportunity to grow, influence, and participate on their own terms. The operations are based on the presence of adults, clear structures, and a relationship-building approach that strengthens young people's self-confidence, hope for the future, and sense of belonging.
As a Group Leader, you play a central role in leading and coordinating the daily work within the department. The role involves creating structure, clarity, and a common direction for the operations, as well as providing support to employees in their assignments.
Job Description
The department is responsible for providing safe and developmental meeting places for young people in the municipality. The operations are conducted at three youth centers: Bro Youth Center, Trappan, and Hagan, which serve as fixed and well-known meeting places for young people. Here, open operations are offered with a focus on community, participation, and meaningful leisure time.
In addition to the fixed meeting places, mobile and outreach operations are also conducted through youth coaches. The work is relationship-building, preventive, and project-oriented, with the aim of strengthening young people's influence, engagement, and participation – especially for those who do not themselves seek out established operations. Collaboration with schools, guardians, associations, and other societal actors is a central part of the mission.
The Group Leader role is a new function established as a result of an organizational change. Previously, the department had two supervisors, but is now transitioning to a consolidated Group Leader function. The change aims to create a more sustainable and cohesive organization where roles, responsibilities, and work processes are clearly defined. This creates better conditions for unified management, clear follow-up, and a consistent working method across the entire department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational leadership of the daily work within the youth center operations and the outreach activities.
- Planning, coordination, and ongoing support for youth workers, including scheduling, staffing, and practical leadership.
- Drive and develop methodological work in the operations based on assignments, target group needs, and current guidelines.
- Act as a contact person in dialogue with schools, guardians, associations, and other collaborating partners.
- Ensure that established routines and working methods are followed and, together with the Department Manager, lead the continued development and quality work of the operations.
We are looking for you who:
- Have relevant post-secondary education in social, pedagogical, or behavioral fields.
- Have experience working in open youth operations and feel confident in meeting the target group.
- Have experience in operational leadership and the ability to lead daily work, make decisions, and prioritize.
- Have strong organizational skills and can structure, coordinate, and quality-assure the operations.
- Are a confident mentor who can provide support, guidance, and feedback to employees in their daily work.
- Have the ability to translate goals and assignments into practical work, follow guidelines, and drive a methodical and consistent working method.
In this recruitment, we place great emphasis on personal qualities. As a Group Leader, you need to be analytical and able to see the big picture, connections, and needs in the operations, while also having the ability to translate analysis into practical action. You are proactive and take responsibility for driving the work forward, even in situations where the frameworks are not always clear.
The role requires you to be responsible and confident in your leadership, with the ability to make decisions, stand firm in daily life, and create trust among both employees and collaborating partners. At the same time, you need to be flexible and able to adapt to changed conditions in an operation characterized by variation and close proximity to the target group.
