We are now looking for a Unit Manager for "Ung i Ekerö" (Youth in Ekerö).
"Ung i Ekerö" is the municipality's consolidated operation for youth and after-school club activities for children in grades 4–6. The unit includes open meeting places, after-school clubs, outreach work, and activities where children and young people are present. The mission is to offer safe, inclusive, and meaningful contexts where children and young people have the opportunity to develop, build relationships, and influence their leisure time.
An important part of our work involves building relationships early on and being close to children and young people throughout their upbringing. Through presence, trust, and collaboration with other actors and guardians, we aim to contribute to safety, participation, and good future prospects for all young people in Ekerö Municipality.
The operation consists of 23 dedicated employees – as well as some hourly-paid after-school leaders – with high competence, a strong sense of responsibility, and a strong drive to develop the operation together. Three of these are team leaders and are part of the unit's management group.
Job Description
As Unit Manager, you are responsible for the operation, personnel, working environment, and economy. You lead an operation that is well-established and appreciated by both children, young people, and guardians.
The assignment is operational and close to the activity, with elements of strategic development issues. You are a support for the employees in their daily work, create conditions for good quality, and ensure that the operation develops based on the needs of children and young people.
You lead through trust, clarity, and presence, and contribute to ensuring that employees' engagement and initiative are valued.
The role includes, among other things:
- leading, planning, and following up on the operation
- responsibility for personnel, working environment, budget, and operational results
- creating good conditions for employees' development and job satisfaction
- developing the operation so that it remains relevant and attractive to children and young people
- ensuring that the operation reaches and includes as many children and young people as possible
- developing work with safety-promoting and preventive measures
- strengthening collaboration with schools, social services, police, associations, and other important actors
- following up on the operation's results and quality
You report directly to the Administrative Director and are part of the administration's management group.
We believe in you and your abilities – therefore, we give you great freedom in your role. Many who work with us appreciate the trust and responsibility they receive in our municipality, as it contributes to significant learning and development in everyday life.
We are looking for you who are a secure, innovative, engaged, and present leader. You have the ability to create trust, build relationships, and help people grow.
You thrive in working close to the operation and find it easy to switch between operational issues and a long-term perspective. You are clear in your leadership and create structure while encouraging initiative, participation, and development.
To succeed in the role, you also need to be collaborative and have a good ability to create and maintain relationships with both internal and external partners.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Qualifications
To succeed in the assignment, you should have:
- relevant university education in, for example, pedagogy, social work, behavioral science, or other education that the employer deems equivalent
- experience in leadership with personnel responsibility
- experience working with children and young people
- experience of collaboration between different operations and actors
- good administrative skills and experience with budget and operational follow-up
- good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience in open youth work, after-school activities, and preventive work
- experience working in a politically governed organization
- experience in safety-promoting and relationship-based work with children and young people
With us, you will have a meaningful assignment where, together with dedicated employees, you contribute to creating safe upbringing conditions and a meaningful leisure time for children and young people.
You become part of a municipality with high ambitions, short decision-making paths, and good opportunities to influence. Here, you get to lead an operation with strong engagement, a big heart, and an important role in the municipality's preventive work.
Welcome with your application!
