Are you a nurse considering taking the step to become a perioperative nurse? Do you want to participate in a unique trainee program where you work on an operating department while receiving education, supervision, and experience in perioperative care? Then this is the position for you!

In January 2026, we launched an eight-month educational program to strengthen future competence needs. We are now looking for you who are a nurse with the ambition to become a perioperative nurse. The goal is for you to apply for the specialist nurse education in perioperative care after the program concludes. Our aim is for the trainee program to prepare you well for your upcoming studies to become a perioperative nurse.

About Helsingborg Hospital

Helsingborg Hospital is one of Region Skåne's four emergency hospitals. Here, qualified emergency care is provided around the clock. The hospital is the largest healthcare producer in northwestern Skåne and offers residents care in most specialties. The department operates 24/7, with approximately 30 percent of activities being emergency care. It consists of three sections: orthopedics, surgery (including vascular surgery), and a section covering ENT, gynecology/obstetrics, urology, as well as jaw and dental patients. We have over 130 employees, including anesthetist nurses, perioperative nurses, nursing assistants, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists.

About the Operating Department in Ängelholm

The operating department in Ängelholm primarily performs planned day surgery. We provide specialized planned care in orthopedics, surgery, gynecology, urology, dentistry, and ENT. We see both adults and children during daytime hours, Monday to Friday. The operating unit consists of operating, anesthesia, sterile processing, day surgery, and recovery activities. We currently have approximately 90 employees, comprising perioperative nurses, anesthetist nurses, nurses, nursing assistants, sterile technologists, and doctors.

Job Description

Now, you, as a nurse with work experience, have the chance to apply for a trainee position in perioperative care at VO Anesthesia/Operation/ICU in Helsingborg or Ängelholm.

Through the trainee program, we want to offer you the opportunity for professional and personal development within an exciting, high-tech area of activity. During the program, you will get an insight into the tasks and responsibilities of a perioperative nurse, which include patient care before, during, and after surgery. Structured supervision and mentoring run throughout the entire program. As a trainee, you are expected to work independently in the team around the patient with identified tasks that you are qualified to perform. During the traineeship, you will receive continuous education and solid preparatory knowledge for upcoming studies to become a perioperative nurse. This knowledge will facilitate your studies and bring you closer to becoming a qualified perioperative nurse.

We will create an individual education plan together, lasting approximately eight months, where independent work is mixed with theoretical and practical training sessions, reflections, and study visits within our operations. You are expected to apply for the specialist education during this time. We offer you a study salary, which corresponds to your maintained base salary during the perioperative nurse education. After completing the education, you will have an employment within the operational area on the operating department in Helsingborg or Ängelholm.

Qualifications

We welcome you who are a licensed nurse with authorization to work in Swedish healthcare. To be considered for the position, you must have at least 1.5 years of experience in the profession. Proficiency in Swedish at a minimum level of C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement.
