The Education and Employment Administration is responsible for employment-promoting measures, integration issues, and education at the upper secondary and post-secondary levels. Here we create conditions for lifelong learning and opportunities for individuals to develop, study, and achieve self-sufficiency. We also contribute to a vibrant business life by addressing development needs in the business sector and creating project initiatives, networks, and meeting places where education and business can meet.

The Employment Unit is organized under the Education and Employment Administration and belongs to the VIA department (adult education, integration, and employment). We work in various ways with assignments primarily from social services/social assistance, but also from the Integration Unit, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and other partners of the Coordination Board such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and Region Halland. We currently have about 25 employees. Within the unit, there are currently interventions such as internal and external work training, job-seeking activities, internship placements, employer contacts, work capacity assessments, and various educational initiatives, among others.

The Employment Unit within Varberg Municipality is undergoing an expansive change process focused on helping more individuals find the fastest path to sustainable self-sufficiency. New legal requirements mean that all recipients of social assistance, based on their activity capacity, must be active with a focus on breaking exclusion and moving towards self-sufficiency. The Employment Unit has been tasked with developing cooperation internally within the municipality, civil society, and the business sector to activate and work towards progression into work for all recipients of social assistance.

Job Description

The unit's and job coaches' assignments include working with participants towards self-sufficiency, leading group activities, and actively working to find possible pathways out. This may involve finding potential employers, maintaining contact with them, and matching participants with potential jobs, or alternatively finding pathways towards studies or other forms of self-sufficiency.

In this position, the main focus is to work together with the job coaches who conduct work capacity assessments in various ways and work to clarify/investigate activity capacity so that individuals can be active according to their abilities, coach towards increased capacity and/or receive the correct benefits.

Qualifications

We prefer that you have a relevant university degree as a behavioral scientist, social worker, occupational therapist, or other suitable education that the employer deems equivalent, and we place great emphasis on personal suitability and experience. Experience working with our collaboration partners, such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, is desirable. The same applies to experience working with individuals with harmful substance use/addiction and mental health issues. The work requires good collaboration skills with participants as well as colleagues and partners, as well as good insight into and understanding of the regulations of our collaboration partners, such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.

We are looking for you who have experience working goal-oriented with unemployed individuals who are far from the labor market. Therefore, it is important that you have a combination of labor market knowledge and behavioral science knowledge. It is very important that you are driven, goal-oriented, and a network builder with a good ability to see the big picture. You need to thrive in being flexible to be both close, coaching, and active towards participants, and be administratively skilled to write clear background documents/reports. You are used to independent work and cooperating in groups and have a low-affective approach when required. You are good at expressing yourself both orally and in writing in Swedish.
