The Education and Employment Administration is responsible for employment-promoting measures, integration issues, and education at the upper secondary and post-secondary levels. Here we create the conditions for lifelong learning and opportunities for individuals to develop, study, and achieve self-sufficiency. We also contribute to a viable business life by utilizing development needs in the business sector and creating project initiatives, networks, and meeting places where education and business can meet.

The Employment Unit within Varberg Municipality is undergoing an expansive change process with a focus on more individuals finding the fastest path to their own sustainable livelihood. The Employment Unit is organized under the Education and Employment Administration and belongs to the VIA department (adult education, integration, and employment). We work in various ways with assignments primarily from social services/social assistance but also from the Integration Unit, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and other partners of the Coordination Board such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and Region Halland.

We currently have 25 employees. Within the unit, there are currently interventions such as internal and external work training, job-seeking activities, internship placements, employer contacts, work capacity assessments, and various educational initiatives, etc.

Job Responsibilities

The unit's and job coaches' assignments include working with participants towards self-sufficiency, leading group activities, and actively working to find possible pathways out. This may involve finding potential employers, maintaining contact with them, and matching participants with potential employment opportunities, or alternatively finding pathways towards studies or other forms of self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

The requirement is that you have a relevant university degree as a behavioral scientist, social worker, study and career counselor, occupational therapist, or other suitable education that the employer deems equivalent. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and experience. Experience working at, for example, the Swedish Public Employment Service, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, and/or the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is desirable. The same applies to experience working with individuals with harmful substance use/addiction and mental health issues.

We are looking for you who have experience working in a goal-oriented manner with unemployed individuals who are far from the labor market, aiming for self-sufficiency. Therefore, it is important that you have a combination of labor market knowledge and knowledge within behavioral science. It is very important that you are driven, goal-oriented, and a network builder with a good ability to see the big picture.

To succeed in this role, you need to be skilled at communicating with colleagues, participants, and employers. You should be passionate about service – enjoy creating new and nurturing contacts. It is desirable if you have local knowledge and contacts within the labor market in the surrounding area.

Good teamwork skills and the ability to structure your work are important. You are flexible and see development as a natural part of the work. You are accustomed to working independently and collaborating in groups. You are good at expressing yourself both verbally and in writing in Swedish.

Salary: Monthly salary.
Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: Start date: 2026-09-01.

Varberg Municipality has a political decision regarding the desired degree of employment. This means that employees have the right to work full-time or part-time as desired.
