Employment Unit seeks you to develop people's opportunities for self-sufficiency

We are Varberg Municipality, the employer who sees the potential in you. Here you can make a difference, both for others and for yourself. We are driven by the idea of simplifying people's daily lives and realizing their dreams. We do this with the help of knowledge, innovative courage, and a forward-looking spirit. Welcome to contribute to the work towards our vision – to become the creative hub of the west coast.

The Education and Employment Administration is responsible for employment-promoting measures, integration issues, and education at the upper secondary and post-secondary levels. Here we create conditions for lifelong learning and opportunities for individuals to develop, study, and achieve self-sufficiency. We also contribute to a vibrant business life by addressing development needs in the business sector and creating project initiatives, networks, and meeting places where education and business can meet.

The Employment Unit is organized under the Education and Employment Administration and belongs to the VIA department (adult education, integration, and employment). We work in various ways with assignments primarily from social services/social assistance, but also from the Integration Unit, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and other partners of the Coordination Board such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and Region Halland. We currently have about 25 employees. Within the unit, there are currently measures such as internal and external work training, job-seeking activities, internship placements, employer contacts, work capacity assessments, and various educational initiatives, etc.

The Employment Unit within Varberg Municipality is undergoing an expansive change process focused on helping more individuals find the fastest path to sustainable self-sufficiency. New legal requirements mean that all recipients of social assistance, based on their ability to participate, must be active with a focus on breaking isolation and moving towards self-sufficiency. The Employment Unit has been tasked with developing cooperation internally within the municipality, civil society, and the business sector to activate and work towards progression into work for all recipients of social assistance.

Therefore, we are expanding our staff by 4 employees with different assignments. Do you want to be part of developing this important and exciting operation further?

Job Responsibilities

The unit's and job coaches' assignments include working to guide participants towards self-sufficiency, leading group activities, and actively working to find possible pathways out. This may involve finding potential employers, maintaining contact with them, and matching participants with potential jobs, or alternatively finding pathways towards studies or other forms of self-sufficiency.

In this position, the main focus is to work with group activities for our participants. This could include theoretical group activities with high participation in a workshop format, health-promoting initiatives, and/or leading off-site group activities at other locations.

The work requires good collaboration skills with participants, colleagues, and collaboration partners.

You have experience working in a goal-oriented manner with unemployed people who are far from the labor market for various reasons. Therefore, it is important that you have a combination of labor market knowledge and knowledge in behavioral science. You are driven, goal-oriented, and a network builder with a good ability to see the big picture. You are confident in taking independent responsibility for a group, the development of participants, as well as qualitative content, and work closely, coaching, and actively towards participants.
