Workplace Description

We are now looking for you who want to contribute to a safe and inspiring school environment for our children and students in preschools and preschool classes. To qualify for the position, you need to have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience working with groups of children. Stockholm City's Schools Substitute Pool recruits substitutes for schools and preschools in the city, and this time we are specifically looking for you who want to work in preschools. Your employment is linked to the Staffing Unit at the Education Administration in Stockholm City, which is responsible for staffing and operations of Stockholm City's Schools Substitute Pool.

As a preschool substitute, you have a fixed-term employment where you are available to the city's preschools and schools, and you choose yourself which parts of Stockholm you want to be available for. You are not guaranteed work; this is determined by the schools' need for substitutes and how much you can work.

Your New Job

As a preschool substitute, you will primarily work in preschools. However, the work can also take place in the city's primary schools, preschool classes, after-school activities, and grades 1-6.

The work is varied, developmental, and requires responsibility. You contribute to creating a safe, meaningful, and stimulating environment for the children. A large part of the work involves supporting the student group in pedagogical contexts and in activities both indoors and outdoors. You are an important part of the pedagogical team and collaborate closely with teachers, who have the overall responsibility for the teaching. In this role, you may also come to work with students who are in need of special support.

Which activities you can work in is determined by your education, experience, and skills. In consultation with you, the Staffing Unit matches your competencies with the needs of the preschools/schools. The work is flexible – you control yourself which days and times you are available via a web-based booking system.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for you who have:

• a completed high school diploma, adult education (KOMVUX) diploma, or equivalent foreign diploma validated by UHR
• experience working with groups of children or students
• good ability to communicate clearly in Swedish, both orally and in writing

Meritorious if you have:

• preschool teacher education
• experience working within preschools/primary schools
• experience working with children/students in need of special support

You must be confident in handling groups of children and students. You take initiative, are active in the work with the children, and meet them with sensitivity. With good listening, communication, and conflict resolution skills, you handle conflicts constructively. We place high demands on your flexibility and teamwork skills as you often change workplaces and colleagues. You adapt easily to changed circumstances but maintain calm and focus on the right things in stressful situations.
