About the Social Services Administration

The Social Services Administration is responsible for individual and family care, elderly care, and care for people with disabilities. We work preventively with support, interventions, and authority enforcement for children, young people, families, adults, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

Do you want to help develop the social services of the future?

We are now looking for a Functional Support Slot who wants to help build a new preventive function within functional support. The role focuses on early and flexible interventions and gives you the opportunity to work close to the individual, make a real difference in people's daily lives, and contribute to the development of more needs-adapted support.

Operational Description

The AST and Preventive Unit consists of approximately 10 employees and is responsible for preventive work within functional support as well as investigating and deciding on interventions according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act on Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS). The goal is a legally secure authority enforcement and preventive work characterized by good service and high quality. We are now developing our preventive work in line with the new Social Services Act and strengthening the operation with a new function, Functional Support Slot.

The Role

The mission of the Functional Support Slot is to quickly provide support in case of temporary or emerging needs, conduct needs assessments prior to potential interventions, and increase accessibility for the municipality's residents. The target group comprises individuals aged 18–64 who need support based on their disability. In the role, you provide early and individualized support without a needs assessment. You meet people in different life situations and support them by creating structure, coordinating contacts, and facilitating daily life. Interventions are given at an early stage to reduce the risk of difficulties developing or growing large.

Job Responsibilities

The assignment as a Functional Support Slot is a project employment for 1 year (with the possibility of extension) involving a broad and varied assignment directed towards people with some form of disability. The work is characterized by flexibility and involves contact with individuals both in their home environment and in other contexts. In the assignment, you have close cooperation with outreach operations, benefit administrators, and other actors.

In the role, you will among other things:

  • Provide practical and motivational support in the individual's daily life, e.g., regarding structure, routines, household chores, as well as administrative issues, handling official mail, filling out forms, etc.
  • Conduct needs assessments as a basis for correct support interventions or further coordination
  • Provide support in contact with authorities and other actors, such as healthcare, habilitation, and social services
  • Contribute to increased accessibility through presence in environments, such as libraries and other meeting places
  • Function as a coordinating link between different actors and contribute to wholeness and continuity in support
  • Participate in the development of new working methods that develop the preventive work and the role
  • Evaluate interventions to ensure that support is appropriate and adapted to the individual's needs

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a great commitment to preventive work and who thrive in a flexible role where you get to take great personal responsibility. The role also places high demands on self-leadership and very good ability to take initiative. You will primarily work in the users' environments and therefore need to be comfortable with varying conditions; office work is a smaller part of the position.

Requirements

  • Social work degree or other relevant academic education
  • Experience of working within social services/operations that meet people with mental illness and neuropsychiatric disabilities
  • Good knowledge of mental illness, neuropsychiatric disabilities, and somatic diseases
  • Good knowledge of society's support interventions and ability to guide individuals in contact with these
  • Good computer skills and good ability to express yourself in speech and writing
  • Ability to work independently with clear self-leadership
  • Structured, responsible, and with good ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work
  • Category B driver's license

Merits

  • Experience in a similar role, e.g., case manager, another coordinating function
