Västra Götaland Region, as Sweden's largest adult education authority, manages six folk high schools: Billströmska, Dalsland, Fristad, Grebbestad, Gothenburg, and Vara.

We provide education and adult learning opportunities where participants can take general courses to gain eligibility for higher education or profile courses to deepen their knowledge in a specialized area. There are about thirty longer courses to choose from. On most of our schools, as well as at the administrative level, we also run various projects in a range of areas. The administration also includes Validering Väst and the VIA assignment, which supports individuals who are further from the labor market. We aim to create opportunities for the individual and for society by working for security, participation, and hope for the future. Many say that their years at the folk high school were the best years of their lives. Folk high schools make a difference and help people find their future.

Billströmska Folk High School, with approximately 150 students, offers general courses, with the option to focus on music and art. Additionally, there are special courses in the form of an advanced music line, a natural science foundation year, and healthcare and care training. The school's boarding house accommodates approximately 90 participants. The school also offers short courses and conference activities. In total, we have about 35 employees working with teaching and service.

Description and Responsibilities

For the upcoming academic year, Billströmska Folk High School is recruiting a natural scientist specializing in chemistry. You will teach chemistry at the school's natural science foundation year, as well as in general courses in natural science and mathematics. You will also serve as class leader and mentor for a class. You will work closely with colleagues to create a good study environment, community, and sense of unity for all participants at the school. As a teacher at a folk high school, it is important to see, value, and utilize each participant's own knowledge.

Qualifications

You are a qualified teacher in the requested subjects and have several years of teaching experience. You are passionate about education and learning, and you create joy and interest in your subjects while working to motivate students. Together with your colleagues, you enjoy working cross-curricularly and thematically. You are confident in your professional role, appreciate the interaction with participants, have a commitment to the target group and the field of work, and have good collaboration skills. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
