Öckerö Maritime Center is Sweden's leading provider of high-quality maritime education according to STCW Manila. OMC operates as a non-profit association with the goal of being a resource for the maritime industry. As part of this, OMC has collaborated with Öckerö Municipality for 25 years to train future seafarers at Öckerö Sailing High School. Historically, we trained Swedish fishermen, but today our focus is on the Maritime and Marine Technology education program.

About the position

We are now looking for individuals with pedagogical skills to teach our machinery courses within the maritime education program. A professional teacher education is not a requirement, but we would appreciate if you have some form of pedagogical experience.

We are looking for you who have a genuine interest, competence, and the ability to guide our students in theory and practice on their journey to becoming tomorrow's engine room crew. With us, you have the opportunity to combine your current job with trying out the inspiring and important role of a teacher and knowledge disseminator.

We are looking for teachers for one or more of the courses below, with extra focus on the first three:

• Machinery Service 1
• Machinery Service 2
• Chief Engineer / Engine Officer
• Basic Welding
• Electrical Technology

Scope

For the right person, there is an opportunity for a permanent position starting with a probationary period. The position can also offer hourly employment, where the selection of courses in which you can offer your services determines the scope.

Responsibilities

To develop study materials, plan, and conduct teaching in the machinery department of the maritime education program together with the education coordinator, linking theoretical moments with the practical training conducted on various ships in the merchant fleet.

Qualifications

You have experience working in the engine department onboard a ship and a genuine interest in conveying knowledge and being an inspiration for students in their development towards a professional role as engine room crew and engine officers. Your working style is characterized by creativity, flexibility, and precision.

You have excellent computer, phone, and tablet skills and are proficient in Microsoft Office 365.

You have excellent knowledge of Swedish and master the English language in both speech and writing.

You hold a valid B driver's license.
