We are looking for a new employee for Adapted Primary School 7-9 on a one-year substitute contract, with the possibility of extension. You hold a Bachelor of Education in Teaching, a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education, or an equivalent teaching degree. We would prefer that you have a special needs teacher degree with a specialization in intellectual disability.

As a teacher in grades 7–9 at Domarhagsskolan, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on teaching according to current guidelines (Lgr22).

The assignment involves you:

• Planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching.
• Exercising clear pedagogical leadership that creates safety and a conducive learning environment.
• Creating structure and predictability in teaching and adapting it to students' various needs.
• Assessing and documenting students' progression.
• Being responsible for development conferences and contact with guardians.
• Collaborating with student health services when necessary.
• Actively participating in collaboration with other staff.
• Contributing to the school's systematic quality work.

As a teacher in adapted primary school focusing on subject areas, there are requirements for formal competence, pedagogical flexibility, and the ability to use alternative communication. Students studying subject areas often have extensive intellectual disabilities combined with other diagnoses, meaning that teaching focuses on functional skills in everyday life rather than traditional school subjects.

Meritorious competencies:

• Documented knowledge and experience of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), such as Signs as Support (TAKK), picture support (Pictogram/Pecs), and digital communication tools.
• Good insight into the Swedish National Agency for Education's curriculum for adapted primary school, specifically the course plans for the five subject areas.
• Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate teaching within the five subject areas: Aesthetic Activities, Communication, Motor Skills, Daily Activities, and Perception of Reality.
• Knowledge of documenting and visualizing development through observations and pedagogical documentation, as students studying subject areas do not receive traditional grades.
• Functional learning: Skill in making abstract concepts concrete and connecting teaching directly to the student's practical daily life and quality of life.
• High ability to read subtle signals, body language, and micro-expressions in students who lack spoken language.
• Sensory stimulation and structure: Experience working with sensory-enlightening pedagogy (e.g., Snoezelen/sensory room) and using structured teaching (TEACCH model) to create a predictable school environment.
