The Accounting Section, with a total of 17 employees, is part of the Finance Department at Stockholm University and is responsible for:

  • Specifying requirements for ongoing accounting, having overall responsibility that accounting is performed according to current regulations, and providing support to the operations in accounting matters
  • Internal accounting, which includes responsibility for economic principles, economic models, and object plans
  • Specifying requirements for systems that interface with internal and external accounting
  • External accounting and reporting to the state
  • Customer and supplier accounts receivable/payable as well as payment flows.

We are constantly working to develop our administrative processes, which requires innovative thinking and the ability to see needs and solutions from different perspectives. The section's work involves contact with external parties such as the Swedish National Audit Board, the Swedish National Debt Office, banks, etc.

Responsibilities

As an Accountant within the Accounting Section, you will work university-wide to develop, improve, and follow up on our processes within the accounting area. You will work broadly with all occurring tasks. You will start with us by handling tasks within customer and supplier accounts receivable/payable, which include, among other things, invoice processing, setup/control of customers and suppliers, incoming and outgoing payments, account reconciliations, and claims management. You will also work with ongoing accounting, accruals, year-end closing, and other common tasks in the Accounting Section. You will assist the operations with expertise in the economic field and conduct training and workshops. Our mission is based on collaboration and an understanding of others' needs, as well as the ability to define and meet internal needs and fulfill external regulations. The role is broad and varied, and for the right person, there are opportunities to develop within our organization. The work is done in close collaboration and dialogue with other operations within the university.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with:

  • A university degree in accounting/economics
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in accounting work
  • Good knowledge in the areas of external accounting and customer/supplier accounts receivable/payable
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite, especially Excel, and a high level of IT maturity
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

We consider it meritorious if you have previous experience from public sector operations and our economic system, Raindance.

About the Position

The position is permanent, full-time, with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
