The hospital's operations are organized into six areas, along with hospital-wide administration. Area 5 consists of twelve operational units and is led by an Area Director. The functions for HR, finance, and development are part of the staff located at the Sahlgrenska site and the Östra Hospital site. At the HR Department Area 5, we are an HR department consisting of approximately 10 HR specialists and 13 administrators.

Sahlgrenska University Hospital is in a phase of development, with several change initiatives to reach the overarching goal of becoming Europe's leading university hospital by 2032, and HR plays a vital role in contributing to this transformation.

Job Description

The HR Department is a close and active partner to the hospital's operations in addressing the challenges healthcare faces. With high competence in the HR field and good knowledge of the operational prerequisites, we work together with the operations on both operational and strategic issues. Through continuous collaboration with other staff functions, we provide unified support to the managers within Area 5.

In this role, it is important to contribute, initiate, and support managers in the development of the operations from both an operational and strategic perspective. You take active ownership of HR issues in management groups and support the implementation, execution, and analysis of HR activities. As an HR Specialist, you work as a partner/generalist towards one or several operational units. You have a natural place in the operation's management group and serve as support to managers in HR matters such as labor law, work environment and health, collaboration, rehabilitation, competence supply, and wage formation.

At the HR Department, we work in teams to develop and utilize our resources and competencies in the best possible way. Working in teams also offers the opportunity to deepen knowledge in specific areas, such as work environment, employer issues, executive recruitment, or competence supply. As an HR Specialist, there is also the opportunity to participate in hospital-wide development groups and networks, thereby supporting operations at several different organizational levels.

About You

You have an academic degree with a focus on HR, behavioral science, or work organization and leadership. We are looking for you with at least 3 years of experience working as an HR Partner/HR Specialist. You must be accustomed to working proactively towards the operations. Experience in management group work is meritorious.

We place great value on personal qualities such as acting consultatively, which means having the ability to listen to and understand problem statements. Your drive lies in giving advice and solving problems through a coaching approach. Furthermore, you possess the ability to see the big picture and can collect relevant information and data to contribute to the further development of the operations. Your capacity to independently plan, drive, and conclude projects and cases, both alone and in collaboration with relevant parties, is crucial. You serve as a role model both in daily work and in your communication and collaboration. It is also of great importance that you have personal integrity and act according to the hospital's values in relation to your colleagues and the organization as a whole.

It is meritorious if you have competence in one or more of the following areas:

  • Executive development, labor law, negotiation experience
  • Change management, preferably with specific experience related to driving or contributing to projects linked to digitalization
  • Experience from the University/Higher Education sector
  • Competence development issues
