Södermalmsskolan is centrally located in Kristinehamn and has approximately 850 students from preschool class to grade 9. Facilities and the schoolyard are distributed across grades F-3, 4-6, and 7-9, where each stage has its own naturally defined area with space for play and creativity.

Responsibilities

This position is focused on strengthening mathematics at the lower secondary level, with the aim of strengthening basic knowledge among students who find mathematics challenging, both at the individual and group levels. You will have a central role in coordinating, developing, and driving the lower secondary school's work regarding students' mathematical development, thereby functioning as a mathematics coordinator.

The assignment combines teaching with an overarching pedagogical development responsibility within basic mathematics. You will have continuous dialogue and check-ins with teaching teachers, special needs teachers, and special educators.

The tasks will include, among other things:

• Developing teaching in basic mathematics.
• Supporting students in need of enhanced mathematical understanding and developing their mathematical self-confidence.
• Developing working methods and strategies.
• Contributing to an equitable and sustainable mathematical development at the school.

You will be part of a work team where you share experiences, competence, ideas, and joy in work. Collaboration with students, guardians, and colleagues is an important part of the assignment. Together with other educators in the work team, you are responsible for developing the operations with the goal of giving every student the best possible conditions for development and learning.

The position involves teaching at Lovskola.

The position is a holiday cover position for 40 hours/week.

Qualifications and Merits

We look forward to your application and welcome you if you have the following:

• Teaching license.
• Qualification for teaching in grades 4–6.
• Extensive experience of teaching mathematics in grades 4–6.
• Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish, as language is our primary tool.

We consider it an advantage if you have a degree as a special needs teacher in mathematics and experience of teaching at the lower secondary level.

As a teacher with us, you are secure, stable, independent, and can handle challenges that occur both inside and outside the classroom. We assume that you have very good pedagogical skills, where you are good at sensing the situation, explaining clearly, and meeting students in a calm manner.

Furthermore, it is important that you have the ability to maintain good structure and can be flexible when circumstances require it. We also see that you are social, outgoing, and work to create motivation among students who have difficulty finding their own drive in school. Collaboration and relationship building are key elements in this role.
