Welcome to Sundsvall Municipality!

Sundsvall Municipality is one of the largest employers in Northern Sweden, with around 8,000 employees and over 300 professions. Together, we fulfill one of society's most important missions – creating utility and value for residents, businesses, and future generations. Regardless of the department, we work towards the same goal: to be a great place to live, work, and thrive.

We are currently in an exciting phase of development. We are a driving force in digital development and artificial intelligence, and together we create smart solutions for the people of Sundsvall today and in the future.

We are facing major transitions to meet citizens' needs in the long term – do you want to be part of this journey?

Within the Child and Education Administration, our approximately 3,000 employees interact with around 14,000 children and students at more than 100 preschools and schools across the municipality every day. Every child and student in Sundsvall's preschools and schools should be able to develop, learn, and reach their goals based on their own prerequisites. Every student should leave school with the desire, knowledge, and good conditions to meet adult life and the future.

Your new workplace

Ljustadalen's Adapted Comprehensive School is located in Ljustadalen, close to the Bista shopping center. We offer bright, spacious, and adapted premises designed to meet the students' various needs. At the school, we operate both comprehensive school and adapted comprehensive school with a focus on subjects and subject areas. Today, we have approximately 220 students, of whom 36 are in the adapted comprehensive school.

In the autumn, the operations will grow to around 48 students, which is why we are looking for you who want to become an important part of our team. We will then consolidate the operations in shared premises, which strengthens cooperation and development opportunities. Our adapted comprehensive school is aimed at students with intellectual disabilities. The operations are characterized by security, clarity, and individual adaptation. Here, dedicated teachers, teaching assistants, preschool teachers, and leisure-time pedagogues work in close collaboration with the student at the center. You will become part of a competent work team where collegial learning, pedagogical development, and cooperation are important parts of everyday life. We work long-term with structure and values to create a positive, developmental, and meaningful school day for our students.

How you contribute in the role of Special Needs Teacher/Special Pedagogue

You work as a class teacher in subject areas for grades 4–6 and are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching based on the students' individual needs. Together with the teaching assistants, you carry out the pedagogical activities. You are also responsible for mapping the students' knowledge and needs and creating action plans and pedagogical support materials. We have a well-developed collaboration between the school's professions, which gives you good support in your work. Here you will find experienced teacher colleagues and teaching assistants with great commitment to our student group. You actively participate in the school's systematic quality work and further education, currently within Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS), planning, and assessment.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with a Special Needs Teacher degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities, or alternatively a Special Pedagogue. We would like you to have experience working within adapted school forms. You have good knowledge of intellectual disabilities and neuropsychiatric disabilities. It is meritorious if you have experience of clarifying pedagogy and alternative communication.

As a teacher, you are engaged and support students' development by adapting teaching to individual needs. You are solution-focused, creative, structured, and inspire others. You are flexible and handle changes well. We value good collaboration skills and the willingness to share knowledge and experiences. You see the work team as a supportive and developmental team. Positive expectations of students and work for increased participation and independence are a natural part of the assignment.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability!
