About the role

At UMS Skeldar, you will join an exciting journey and work in a tight-knit team of four, driven by quality, technical interest, and a strong passion for work. As a Technical Writer at Skeldar, you are responsible for the entire process from research to final publication. You work closely with the product and the end-user to ensure the highest quality in their manuals. This role offers you involvement in the entire operation and a close-up view of new products. You will have great freedom to shape your work and the chance to work with cutting-edge technology at a company with world-class documentation.

To succeed in this role, you have a strong technical interest and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. As the link between engineers and end-users, you break down complex information in a pedagogical way using text and illustrations. This is an initial employment via Academic Work with the vision of a direct hire to Skeldar.

Responsibilities

The role involves overall responsibility for technical documentation, combining writing with illustrations and extensive research to create user-friendly manuals.

• Conduct research and investigation to create material for publications.
• Produce and update technical manuals and work descriptions.
• Create technical illustrations and drawings from scratch when needed.
• Conduct field studies to understand the product and its practical use.
• Gather and implement feedback from end-users to improve documentation.
• Read and interpret technical drawings as a basis for manual production.

We are looking for someone who

• Has a post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.
• Has fluent skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
• Has a strong technical interest and the ability to work in a structured manner.

Employment at UMS Skeldar requires a successful security clearance according to current regulations. Some security-cleared roles may also require Swedish citizenship.

It is meritorious if you have

• Education in technical documentation.
• Experience in technical writing with XML-structured text (S1000D, DITA, DocBook) in a Content Management System.
• Experience with technical illustrations and exploded views.
• Previous experience from the technical industry or the defense sector.
