Do you want to contribute to better decisions and development in healthcare?

The healthcare sector faces significant opportunities and challenges. To develop care and strengthen medical research, there is a need for access to reliable data, qualified analyses, and people who can transform information into usable knowledge. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a central role in developing Region Östergötland's use of data and analysis as support for business development and research. You will work closely with operations, managers, researchers, and other key stakeholders, contributing with background material and analyses that make a real difference for patients, employees, and decision-makers. Here, you have the opportunity to combine business understanding, analytical skills, and technical competence in a role where you contribute to the development of future healthcare.

What We Offer

Region Östergötland provides healthcare, research, and education with the goal of creating the best possible care for the county's inhabitants. Data and analysis are a crucial part of this work and play an increasingly important role for both business development and medical research. At the Data and Analysis Unit, you will work in a knowledge-intensive environment alongside experienced colleagues within analysis, statistics, BI, and information management. There are good opportunities for competence development, close collaboration with research, and the chance to influence how health data is used to develop care.

Job Description

As a Business Analyst, you work at the intersection of operations, data, and development. You work with health data throughout the entire process – from identifying information needs and performing data extraction to data processing, quality assurance, and analysis. Through your work, you create prerequisites for data-driven planning, control, business development, and medical research by making health data accessible, analyzing it, and ensuring its quality. The role involves close collaboration with managers, operational representatives, researchers, and technical specialists to develop solutions that support the organization's goals, priorities, and long-term development.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

  • performing qualified data extractions and data processing
  • developing analyses and decision support for planning, follow-up, and business development
  • identifying the information needs of operations and researchers and translating them into usable data materials
  • developing methods for efficient and secure use of health data
  • collaborating with statisticians, BI developers, and other specialists regarding analysis and information solutions

You work with data from the region's information environments and use tools such as SQL and Power Query for data extraction, processing, and analyses. The role requires analytical ability, technical understanding, and the ability to translate insights into practically usable solutions. You act as a bridge between the organization's needs and the technical possibilities available, guiding operations and managers on how data and analyses can be used to make well-founded decisions. A central part of the assignment is to provide qualified support to research and medical development. You collaborate with researchers on data extraction, data processing, and quality assurance of health data, and contribute to developing efficient methods for research.

The Team

The Data and Analysis Unit is part of the region's development function and consists of approximately 40 employees with competence in analysis, statistics, business development, production development, information management, and digitalization. You will become part of a cross-professional team where business analysts, statisticians, BI developers, and development leaders work closely together near healthcare operations and research environments. Together, we develop data-driven decision support and methods that strengthen planning, control, business development, and research. The work is characterized by collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a common ambition to create value for healthcare and the region's inhabitants. Here, you will work on complex and socially significant issues where health data contributes to better decisions, increased knowledge, and improved care.

About You

We are looking for you who have an academic degree of at least three years in, for example, statistics, computer science, systems science, system development, industrial economics, civil engineering, or another relevant area, or equivalent competence acquired in another way. You have several years of experience in qualified analysis, development, or business control work and thrive at the intersection of operations, data, and technology. You have a good ability to understand the information needs of operations and researchers and translate them into analyses, data materials, and solutions that create value. You have good technical understanding and experience working with SQL, Power Query, and Power BI or equivalent tools. You are accustomed to working with large datasets and ensure that analyses, data extractions, and materials maintain high quality. Experience with health data, research support, or work within healthcare is meritorious. As a person, you are analytical, structured, and quality-conscious. You work independently and take responsibility for driving your work forward, while also enjoying collaborating with colleagues from different professions. You easily build trusting relationships and can communicate analyses and complex information in a clear and pedagogical manner. We also look for someone with a good holistic view and the ability to understand the connections between operations, information, technology, and strategic goals. You are driven by developing the use of data and health data to contribute to better decisions, business development, and medical research. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
