Student Assistant at Östervångsskolan in Lund

At the Swedish National Agency for Special Education (SPSM), we work to ensure that all children, students, and adult learners with disabilities achieve their educational goals. We run our own special schools in various locations across Sweden. We also provide support to preschools and schools nationwide to create learning environments that are developmental and accessible. Östervångsskolan in Lund offers bilingual instruction in a sign language environment for students from preschool class through grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish Sign Language and written Swedish. We offer housing for students who cannot commute to school every day.

Job Responsibilities

As a student assistant, you work in one or several classes as well as in the after-school center activities. This assignment includes work at the school's lower secondary level and in a special education group.

As a student assistant in our operations, you work for the benefit of the entire student group, with a particular focus on students who need support due to various needs, such as physical, linguistic, and psychosocial.

The student assistant's area of responsibility is to support the students' development in close collaboration and dialogue with teachers and the student health team.

As a student assistant, you should be a support so that all students have the same conditions to develop and keep up with the teaching.

You support all students' participation in peer life and the school's entire operations, with both independence and inclusion as goals.

You have an active role in school work.

You create a safe learning environment based on mutual respect and cooperation.

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for someone who has:

• Adequate education for working with children and young people
• Upper secondary education with a focus on the Child and Youth Care program or equivalent
• Experience in preventive and remedial work for students in need of special support and/or experience in social work with children and young people. This includes conflict management and supportive measures to prevent conflicts and challenges in a social environment.
• Swedish Sign Language and written Swedish
• Good general IT skills as well as knowledge of Office/Outlook and systems aimed at supporting work with students.

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Experience working with children and young people
• Knowledge of Deaf culture
• Knowledge of various disabilities

Employment Information

Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.

Duration: 6 months or longer, start date: 2026-08-10 or by agreement, end date: 2027-06-30.

Temporary position during the school year 2026/27.

An extract from the criminal record must be presented prior to employment.
