Workplace Description

Research into lung diseases is conducted at the Lung Biology research group. The research has been at the forefront of the field for several years. The group is led by Professor Gunilla Westergren-Thorsson and consists of both research and technical staff. The operations are located at the Biomedical Centre in Lund.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The tasks include both administrative and laboratory duties:

  • Purchasing and invoice accounting.
  • Introduction of new employees and students.
  • Work environment and handling of flammable substances.
  • Risk assessments.
  • Chemical registers.
  • Organization and preparation of section meetings.
  • Lung dissection.
  • Handling fresh human tissue: isolate cells, prepare tissue (fix and freeze).
  • Cell culture and participation in laboratory maintenance.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • Degree as a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent.
  • Experience working in the procurement portal Primula.
  • Experience with systems such as Labguru, Kuben, and Varbi (administrative and economic systems).
  • Experience in work environment issues, safety, section meetings, and employment procedures.
  • Good knowledge of the lung, lung diseases (such as COPD and IPF), and their extracellular matrix (ECM).
  • Good knowledge within histology (immunohistochemistry/fluorescence).
  • Good experience in laboratory work and handling of standard equipment.
  • Good knowledge in cell culture (cell differentiation, histology).
  • Good knowledge in statistics.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively.

The tasks require a flexible approach and the ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel. You need to have extensive experience with the university's administrative systems and insight into the university's organization. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

Meritorious qualifications include:

  • Completed course as supervisor for flammable substances.
  • Completed course in Proceedo.

Other Information

The employment is fixed-term for 1 year (specific fixed-term employment) with an start date of July 1, 2026, or as agreed. The position is 30% of full-time.
