Company Description
AFRY is a leading European company with a global reach in engineering, design, and consulting. We accelerate the transition to a sustainable society.
We are 19,000 dedicated experts within industry, energy, and digitalization, creating sustainable solutions for future generations.
Job Description
Join us in developing software for some of Sweden's most critical technical systems!
Working with embedded software within the defense industry is something quite special. Here, you develop systems used in advanced platforms such as aircraft, ships, vehicles, and sensor-near systems – technology that must function in all conditions, even when the external environment is most demanding. At AFRY, you have the opportunity to tackle deep technical challenges while contributing to Sweden's security and societal resilience.
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you participate in the entire development chain, from requirements and architecture to implementation, integration, testing, and verification. You work in teams alongside electronics, systems, and test engineers, and much of the work takes place close to the hardware. Here, you build systems with long lifecycles, high stability requirements, and audited safety standards – a role where quality and caution are just as important as creativity and problem-solving.
You may work both at the client's site in Stockholm or in-house at our modern facilities in Solna, depending on the project and your preferences.
Qualifications
Who we are looking for:
- Relevant university degree and preferably at least two years of work experience
You have experience with:
- C/C++ for embedded systems
- RTOS, bare-metal, or Linux embedded
- Hardware-near programming, drivers, and low-level interfaces
- Collaboration in technical teams
- Fluent Swedish in speech and writing
Meritorious:
- Experience with military capability, voluntary defense organization, Home Guard, or completed conscription
- Communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I²C, UART, Ethernet)
- Knowledge of Java, Python & ADA
- Test automation and CI for embedded targets
- Debugging with oscilloscope, JTAG, logic analyzer
Security Clearance
You must be a Swedish citizen, and the role involves a security clearance check, which enables work with technology and systems that few others have access to, and to contribute directly to Sweden's defense capability.
