Do you want to be part of launching a new operation for children and young people within the LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments)?
Here, you have the opportunity to be involved from the very beginning and together build something entirely new where commitment, development, and innovation are at the center.
We are looking for you who are confident in finding new ways of working to create a calm and predictable everyday life for the young person. At the same time, no day is the same, and if you thrive in an active and varied daily routine, you have come to the right place.
As a Support Pedagogue, you will work together with other support pedagogues and support assistants, in close collaboration with the unit manager and the young person's important network. At the same time, you will support your colleagues in how to think about situations where they need support.
Responsibilities
Your main task will be to provide individually adapted pedagogical support that strengthens the individual's opportunity for an independent, meaningful, and developing life. An important part of the task is also to contribute to a calm, safe, and predictable environment at the workplace. You will be responsible for developing implementation plans, action plans, and job descriptions. You will also lead operational meetings with the work group.
Communication is a central part of the work, and we use pedagogical methods such as clarifying pedagogy and low-affective handling to create clarity, structure, and security in everyday life.
Working with low-affective handling means that you, as an employee, take responsibility for the situation, reflect on what has happened, and together with colleagues and the young person, find sustainable solutions moving forward. We work with an approach characterized by respect, patience, and a strong focus on the individual's needs and conditions.
Involvement is at the center of our work. We work to ensure that the young person receives the right support, can influence their daily life, and develop based on their own goals, interests, and abilities. This can involve support regarding leisure activities, social interaction, communication, or cognitive understanding – always with the individual in focus.
You will work a varied schedule with shifts during the day, evening, and weekends.
Qualifications
For the position of Support Pedagogue, a post-secondary specialization within the field of disability is required, comprising at least 200 YH (University College) credits, 120 higher education credits, or a combination thereof equivalent to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for persons with disabilities.
Those who do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1 may be offered a language test through the test provider Educateit.
It is a requirement that you, as an applicant, have at least two years of experience working with persons with neuropsychiatric disabilities. You also need to have at least two years of experience working with LAB (Low-Affective Handling), self-harm behavior, and disruptive behavior. We also expect you to have very good knowledge of social documentation and a valid Category B driving license (manual).
Since the position will involve a fair amount of physical activity, good physical fitness is an advantage.
As a person, you are stable and feel confident handling the situations you encounter in your work. You take responsibility for the operation, both for the young person living in the residence and for all tasks that need to be done around it. At the same time, you are sensitive to the individual's needs and adapt your working method to the situation. You contribute to good cooperation with your colleagues and have a professional and respectful approach to everyone you meet in your work.
