The social emergency service is part of the Social Services Administration Centre and works for the entire City of Gothenburg and 12 surrounding municipalities. The work involves exercising authority according to the Social Services Act (SoL), the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU), and the Care of Abusers of Hard Liquor Act (LVM). The operation is open 24/7, with working hours primarily scheduled for evenings, nights, and weekends. You submit your own preferred schedule in 6-week periods, which are approved by the operations manager after any necessary revisions.

Job Responsibilities

As a social secretary at the social emergency service, you encounter a wide range of different cases and tasks where no two days are alike. You never know what to expect when you start your shift, but you are always finished when you leave. You handle acute social problems for people within social services' various target groups and age ranges. Some of the tasks include safety assessments regarding children in danger, decisions on placement in protected housing for victims of violence, decisions on emergency accommodation, assistance assessments for urgent food allowances, decisions on placement in residential care homes (HVB) or special homes for children and youth (SIS), LVM assessments regarding reports of addiction, and extensive counseling and referrals.

We have close cooperation primarily with the police and healthcare, but we collaborate with all societal authorities. The job duties include home visits or other assignments, such as being called to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP), Baby Clinics (BB), or the Migration Agency. During daytime, the work mainly consists of handing over information from the evening and night shifts to the regular social offices, referring citizens and partners to the correct locations in the city, and handling acute situations for people who do not belong to the City of Gothenburg.

The operation is run by an operations manager and two unit managers with shared leadership. A senior social secretary is available for work leadership at all hours of the day. We have our own payroll administrator and a reception. During evenings, nights, and weekends, the reception is staffed by a security guard as we receive many spontaneous visits, both from the public and via the police. You work both independently and together with your team colleagues. The staff group consists of experienced and competent employees, most of whom have worked at the social emergency service for a long time. You receive regular method development.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a fully educated social worker. Since the work requires a high degree of independence, we consider it a requirement that you have at least 3 years of experience exercising authority at a social office, and we view it as positive if you have more experience than that. You need to have experience exercising authority within Children and Youth and/or Adults within social services. If you have experience working in an intake group at a social office, it is considered an advantage.

The work is decision-intensive and requires that you can make independent decisions in accordance with laws, routines, and delegation. At the same time, you need to have humility regarding the assignment and seek help from colleagues and supervisors in assessments.

You work efficiently under stress, can make necessary prioritizations, and maintain calm in difficult situations. You contribute with your competence and experience and can act as a good support to your colleagues as you often work together in teams.

You have a professional attitude, are solution-focused, and have a good ability to cooperate both externally and internally. We would like you to have experience dealing with vulnerable people and that you have a strong child's perspective.

We consider it a requirement that you have a B driving license.
