Description

The preventive unit of the Social Services Department will be hiring two youth mentors this autumn to strengthen our work targeting young people at risk. As a youth mentor, you will be part of the SSPF collaboration – a partnership between schools, social services, police, and leisure activities coordinated by the social services department. In this exciting hourly position, you will have the opportunity to serve as a guide and role model for young people, helping them navigate various challenges and opportunities. This may concretely involve motivating young people and accompanying them to new activities, sports, etc.

We are looking for you who possess personal maturity, strong collaboration skills, and an ability to build relationships. You will work together with the SSPF coordinator at the social services department and collaborate with other staff members within social services, culture and leisure, schools, and the voluntary sector.

Your responsibilities include:

• Supporting young people in their development and helping them find positive environments.
• Collaborating with various actors to ensure young people engage in meaningful activities.
• Maintaining contact with guardians when necessary.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Experience working with children and young people, along with basic knowledge of child development, needs, and appropriate interaction.
• An ongoing or completed education in social work, pedagogy, or equivalent.
• Good self-awareness and a stable foundation, enabling you to handle various situations with both confidence and empathy.
• Collaborative skills – you are always open to listening to others, thrive in teamwork, and create a positive atmosphere.
• A natural ability to build relationships and trust with young people, as well as a genuine desire to support and guide them in their development.
