The Södermalm District Administration and the Adult Area are now looking for a Social Secretary for the Investigation Group within Economic Assistance. The Area consists of the units for economic assistance, harmful use and addiction, social psychiatry, and disability, and is part of the Social Department.
You will have the opportunity to be part of an exciting change journey within our administration, where, with the new Social Services Act, we work to create a more accessible, secure, and close social services for citizens.
As a new employee, you will receive an individual introduction program, led by the unit coordinator together with the group leader and a mentor in the group to give you the best possible start in the role. In economic assistance, we work to support the individual towards self-sufficiency and strive to create long-term solutions.
Workplace Description
The Economic Assistance Unit is divided into two parts. The Investigation Group is organized under the Adult Area, as well as the Reception Group which is organized within the Pilot Area First Line. This position will belong to the Investigation Group. In total, approximately 37 people work with economic assistance.
The Investigation Group is responsible for planning towards self-sufficiency and assessments of economic assistance when cases require more extensive follow-up and long-term support.
The Investigation Group is led by a unit manager and group leader who are responsible for the work environment, personnel, and the distribution of daily work.
The Department is responsible for social services, care for people with disabilities, and preventive measures. The workplace is located in modern premises in Hammarby Sjöstad.

Södermalm District Administration has winter and summer working hours and a flexible time agreement. Since 2024, the wellness allowance is 3,000 SEK per year. Continuous supervision is included in the work.
Your Role
As a Social Secretary in the Investigation Group:
- You receive and provide clear information to citizens applying for economic assistance, investigate the right to assistance, assess needs, and make decisions according to current legislation. Cases are handled promptly with a focus on quality and legal security. You collaborate both internally within the unit and administration and externally with relevant actors. The work is based on the social services' dual mission: to support the individual towards self-sufficiency while simultaneously assessing the right to assistance.
Your Competence and Experience
- Degree in Social Work (Social Worker degree).
- Experience in authority exercise with a focus on economic assistance. Minimum 2 years.
- Confidence in documenting and handling cases correctly and according to regulations.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, both internally and externally.
- Basic knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI).
- Advantageous with experience within addiction and mental health issues.
